Commercial Description:
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

11.6oz - Cloudy orange liquid under thick, tall ivory head. Gingery, spicy, sweet nose was detectable but faint. Bananas ans a mild sweetness greet the tongue turning into a hoppy astringency.

Poured a honey gold with a few bubbles, sweet bread and bread crust with pale malt and pilsner malt fragrances, some pie crust fragrance, faint spice, fruit and apple cider fragrances, as the beer warmed, a sweet, fresh bread aroma evolved, taste of sweet malt with a small hop bitterness, faint dry fruit and tart on the tongue, semi dry on the palate, little caramel and a faint honey taste in the drink, I found this beer interesting.

Bottle. From last year, I think. I was expecting a gusher when I opened, but just got a slight pfft. Nice head and nice lace that was still there after a good hour. Aroma was a little light, mostly the usual suspects in a good Belgian (banana, citrus, other spices.) The mouthfeel was a bit metallic at first, but that quickly subsided and became very nice. Lots of spice, honey, some citrus and it finishes with a grainy, spicy nuttiness that’s unlike anything I can remember. Almost like smoky. Very nice indeed.

Pours a light copper color with a thick white head. Aroma is of spices, lemon, citrus, and yeast. Flavor starts off with lemon and citrus that give way to grassy tones, honey, yeast, and spices. Slight alcohol warming on the finish. A pretty decent brew.

Deep copper and brownish with nice thick’n creamy offwhite head. Spicy, hoppy, florally, malty, vinegar-like and fruity. Like all Dolle beer’s, it has a high carbonation.

Poured a light copper maybe light brown color with an explosive white head. The bottle actually began to gush but I poured it in time. Aroma was very vinous. It seemed very similar to a chardonnay, spicy, sweet, and hoppy. Flavor was pretty good and easy to drink with a little alcohol at the end. I guess the vinous notes could be from the honey maybe because it does have a slight similarity to a mead. Pretty tasty beer.

Beautiful beer. Deep gold color with heavy sediment. Thin but exquisitely tender lasting head, very sudsy and lacy. Very nutty, buttery flavor. Mellow. Ultra-smooth palate and finish.

Playing: Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scherezade

Heavy hoppy aroma, with a little smell of fruit. Huge frothy white head. Good lacing. Mostly lasting longevity. Cloudy orange body. Heavy sweet and fruity initial flavor. Medium to full palate.
