| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Aug 7, 2006 Bottle, drank at home, purchased at Chevy Chase Wine and Liquors in Washington DC on 8/7/06. The beer pours a cloudy straw color with a huge frothy head. It is a sweet and light brew that is slightly bitter. It is a very typical but also very good Belgian from a fantastic brewery. Keep up the good work in Esen. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2006 Bottled. Beer is clear, light-to-medium amber-gold color with a large, frothy, white, mostly lasting head. The aroma is complex and fantastic. Malty with light notes of toasted grain moderate notes of cookie and very sticky-sweet caramel; Hoppy with a moderate floral notes, lemon zest; Yeasty with a trace note of cheese, light notes of basement and soap; Miscellaneous light note of spicy alcohol, honey. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly-to-moderately acidic, trace bitter with a long, lightly-to-moderately acidic, lightly sweet, lightly warm finish. The palate is sexy. The body is full, the texture is velvety/thick/smooth/downy and the carbonation is lively. eaglefan538 (2383), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 26, 2006 Wow, one of the more beautiful beers I’ve ever poured, smelled, or tasted. Just fantastic. The murky cloudy golden color was typical, but the head was so fluffy and pillowy, it just sat nicely above the 0.25L marker on my Chimay glass and was really fluffy and had excellent retention. Heck, the head didn’t seem to change size the entire time. The lacing was continuous, no rings, just a straight coating of the glass edges. A beauty. The aroma was somewhat Belgian Tripel like, but without any wheat or banana notes, lots of apples. The flavor followed suit with a bitterness that seemed to come from the yeast rather than any hopping. This was far more simple than any of the other De Dolle beers I’ve had, but it was fairly nice and smooth, enjoyable. The mouthfeel was moderate and hearty. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 25, 2006 Bottle served at 48F. Hazy orange body with vigorous carbonation fueling a medium bubly head. Nice yeasty wheat bread aroma with apricot and tangerine highlights. The flavor retains the rustic yeasty wheat element and adds orange peel, white wine, and grassy hops. Big flavor on this guy, the orange and white wine character really explode in the finish. Compelling stuff!
