Commercial Description:
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

330ml bottle.
Of the 11.5oz of beer in this bottle, maybe 6 of it eventually made it into my beer glass. The other 5oz ended up all over my kitchen counter and sink. This stuff burst out of the bottle like a geyser as soon as it opened. Pours a nifty cloudy amber with a massive poofy head that never goes anywhere and leaves texturous clumps of lace along the sides of the glass. Aroma is pretty standard Belgian strong-ale -- clean crystal malt-y, nutty yeast, spicy & grassy-like-a-meadow hops with a touch of clover. Flavor follows suit, though moderate to high hop bitterness that didn’t feature as strongly in the aroma asserts itself on the tongue with each swallow. Lively, tingly & smooth palate. Does De Dolle make anything that does not taste great?

Bottle. Pours murky orange with a thin white head. Aroma is kind of funky. Cane sugar, caramel, honey, with a slighy fruity background. Tastes like a sour, stale apple juice, funky cigarette and plastic aftertaste. Wow, I’m really shocked at the taste. Some apples, sweetness, but the plastic is coming thru big time. Mouthfeel is carbonated and medium body. I have yet to have a beer from this brewer that I enjoy. I don’t know if I have had some old bottles or I just don’t get what they are doing.

Draught. Pours an orange colour with a big white head. Fruity aroma with some hints of honey. Sweet malty flavor with hints of honey and spices. Long dry finish with some bitterness.

Spicy, yeasty, hoppy aroma. Amber colour, tons of carbonation and huge head with reasonable staying power. Fruity, sour flavour with notes of honey, flowers and quite a bit of sweetness. Creamy mouth feel with the typical De Dolle sour / bitterness taste and a clear but balanced presence of alcohol. A friend of mine told me he was rather disappointed by Bos Keun. I think he is wrong. Even though it might not be the best of the De Dolle beers, it’s still a great beer.

bottled. HUGE head, fills my St. Bernardus goblet. Cloudy golden. Huge aroma, but mainly yeast (typical) and sugar. This beer is off the hook! Great complexity yet remarkably drinkable! UMMM, UMMM BITCH! But.... at only 7%, this might get old quick; plus this beer is really too yeasty to not have the alcohol to back the style. Then again... I WISH THEY SOLD THIS SHIT IN 6PACKS AT THE INDIAN STORE UP THE ROAD. That would be nice. I LOVE De Dolle so far, esp. their fun, tipsy art work.

330ml bottle poured a cloudy amber with a lasting white head. Aromas of spices, honey, and some vinous notes. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of honey, spices, apple, and a hint of vinousness with a lingering sweet finish.

A nice beer. Deeply golden with a seriously active head making it a bugger to pour and difficult to negociate without getting a frothy nose, but the beer is worth it. Quite hoppy with a lovely mellow after taste that sticks around for a while. Not Des Dolles’ best beer, but still enough to put most breweries to shame.

Awesome gold body with a heavy amount of carbonation, lots of particulates in the body. Grapes and apples dominate the aroma, very complex. Grapefruits in the flavor, heavy carbonation ending.
