Commercial Description:
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Bottle at Paters Vaetje in Antwerpen. Nice hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma of pale malt, fruit, spices, and yeast. Flavor more of the same, somewhat sweet with De Dolle’s trademark yeast flavor and alcohol noticeable. Nice crisp palate, medium-full.

yet another 12 gauge blast from a de dolle 330. this might be the most aerated head from them yet, i can clearly see individual bubbles like cells. beer itself is very cloudy blonde, quite striking. nose is yeast and gigantic fruits, pineapple at the forefront. it is tempered with something softer and nearly sulfuric. flavor is insanity! cane sugar lies out in the open, unashamed of the fact that it seems somewhat unprocessed and under attenuated. still it provides a soft and luxurious mouthfeel. the fruits chase behind creating a juicy center. some de dolle brews are so strong that the booze really clobbers you, but this proves that is not their general MO. it is quite easy to get caught up in the yeast and esters and never remember you are drinking a 10% brew. this is utterly enjoyable, probably their best effort i have sampled yet.

bottle. Pours a completely hazed pale orange color with a monstrous off white head, good lacing. Nose is very sweet with tropical fruits like mango’s, pineapples, and some citrus with a yeasty background. Flavor was also quite sweet and fruity.

Bottle. Pours a hazy murky orange with a moderate creamy off-white head that leaves some permanent lacing. Aroma is tart apple cider. Malt hits hard at first and then a sweet fruitiness. Caramelly notes. Finishes aggressively with a slight burn. Heavily carbonated and foamy in the mouth leaves the tongue almost numb.

Pours a light-hazed, golden/amber body with mild yeast particulate (chunkier late) under a fast, fizz-away head of off-white froth. Huge spices meet dirty malts and ripe, fruity yeasts in the nose to make me step back and say, "wow". Palate is delicately fluffy yet decadently full, while the aftertaste is sharp and astringent. Flavor finds a crazy yet strangely balanced helping of yeast, malt, hop, spice and alcohol... banana, lemon/lymon, caramel, clove, honey, bread dough, menthol, etc., etc. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been spoiling myself too much as of late, but I found this to be rather exquisite. ~~~~~~~~ Cellared at least two years. Originally purchased at Sam’s, Highland Park, IL. Consumed July 2009.

Bottle 33cl from crackedkettle.com. It pours a murky copper beer with a huge head. Some yeast sediments floating in the glass. Fennel, apple, coriander, melon, grape, white bread and cherry showing up in the nose with yeast being predominant. Sweet yeasty taste. Some burnt rubber sneaking in. Hints of fennel, melon, cherry, coriander and apple. Peppery. Medium to full bodied. Good lacework. Some warming alcohol most present on the swallow. Long dry finish with lingering notes of nasturcium and melon.
