Commercial Description:
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Pours a fully clouded orange brown with a nice off white head. Nose is full of funk and spices. Touch of orange peel on there it seems as well. Touch of cotton candy. Flavor is bringing the funk. Sugar and yeast are kicking up and spices are in full swing. You might as well pull out the fork and knife and mix up some nice sides with this one. Feel is thick with a big carbonation. Liquid has a good body as well. Just coats the mouth. Overall very drinkable. A powerful and robust brew that has a mass of complexities. If you can’t handle a thick mouthful, then you might not want to bother with this one. If you can handle it, then sip with extreme pleasure.

Bottled, BB Feb 2008, sampled August 2008. A lot of pressure inside the bottle. Beautiful hazy golden/orange coloured, firm lasting white head. Spicy nose. Alcoholic sweet flavour, alcohol, lots of spices, a bit cloying actually. I had high expectations, but this beer couldn’t really live up to it.

11.2oz bottle, gushed like a mofo. My feet are sticky. Screw you, Boskeun! Pours a vaguely clear, golden-orange color; off-white head with solid retention and patchy, fine-bubbled lacing. Good amounts of white pepper, honey, and Belgian sugar in the aroma; less De Dolle house character than a lot of their beers; quite sweet. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of sweet, chewy honey, Belgian sugars, light spice and white pepper; very much like a tripel; some vanilla, gently spiced, lightly carbonated, and very much on the sweet side; disappointing in comparison to many of their beers (my feet being sticky doesn’t help here). Lengthy finish: lots of honeyed malty sweetness, complex yeastiness, and dry toasty malts; the finish is the finest part of this beer.

From a 11.2oz bottle purchased at By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a glowing hazy copper-orange hue with a frothy off-white gripping head. Yeasty, pineapple, apple, fruity gum nose. Prickly mouthfeel that is sharp with a soft fruity finish. Massively flavorful finish. Damn I love DeDolle!

Total gusher of a beer. Pisses me off as it was a $6 beer. Should make it cheaper if 1/3 will spill on counter. Pours hazy dark orange with huge amount of very very froathy manilla head. Looks delicious. Aroma delicious - lots of fruit, specifically apples and pears with some belgian yeast and slight alcohol. Flavor nice and fruity with a bit of yeasty doughiness and some spice. Warming alcohol finish. Overall excellent beer.

12 oz bottle. Upon opening bottle, beer just started gushing all over the place. Once it settles down, a dark orange color with a thick fluffy white head. Sweet malt, citrus and some spice in the aroma. Taste is malty, spicy hops and pepper. Hot and alcoholic with a bitter hop aftertaste.
