Ober (187), Best, Netherlands Apr 25, 2008 A litle hazy golden colored beer with a big foamy white head. Aromas of spices (clove), honey, hops and fruits. The taste is light sweet of honey, peaches with touches of banana. You taste a little alcohol. It has a dry after tasting. A great beer.
chimp_lechamp (324), glasgow, Scotland Jun 30, 2008 bottle pours hazy brown massive fizzy head, some lacing. nose is earthy forresty, barnyardy. wholewheat bread. yeast, and honey. tastes full bodied fluffy orange peel. quite bitter. long finish. buttery. reminds me of chardonnay in the amount of butter in it. subtle sweetness. complex alcohol warmth. dkachur (575), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 29, 2008 Bottle shops should really use those tiny little price tags that have their names printed on them because when I go on a beer buying binge that includes FOUR STORES and I don’t get around to all the beers until a month later I don’t remember where the hell it’s from! Anyway, this is a 33 cL bottle from somewhere in Richmond, VA. GUSHER! Again. Every damn De Dolle. They’ve already killed one keyboard. WHAT MORE DO THEY WANT FROM ME! Orange color with small dark floaties. Moderate head and specks of lacing. Interesting spicy aroma reminiscent of eggnog. Also some stone fruit in there. Very spicy and somewhat bitter with a sweeter, fruity aftertaste. Odd beer, but in a good way. kiefdog (270), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 22, 2008 33cl bottle from World of Beer (Largo, FL). Pours a dark honey golden color with a thick and frothy bright white head that settles slowly. Aroma is sweet honey, caramel, juniper, spice, aged cheese. Flavor is spicy and sweet with strong ginseng root with notes of a medicinal character-but not unpleasant. Mouthfeel is light to medium with a sharp, slightly bitter finish. Interesting ale. Complexities deepen as the beer warms. A multitude of flavors present throughout. screwball (669), Motala, Sweden Jun 19, 2008 Bottle. hazy golden body. has a white big foamy head. Aroma and flavor has some perfume, flowers, hops and apricot. Also little peppry and very strong. Big mouthfeel. Ok strong ale. durhambeer (291), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 13, 2008 33cl bottle... a gusher as is typical with De Dolle beers. Bright cloudy amber pour with two finger off-white head. Sour yeasty and summer fruit aromas. Tons of candied sugar, but not cloying. Not as funky as other De Dolle beers, but the abundant alcohol keeps the taste interesting. Definitely better as it warms. I’d serve around 65 degrees. Nice one.
