Clear medium to dark red brown color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, sour berry, moderate wood, roasted malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, moderate acidic and bitter with a long duration, and a bit salty. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. That is a very nice beer, for me the best of Zythos 2009 ;0)) keep up the good work ;o)) [20090307] MiP (9087), Sønderborg, Denmark

Big stable light brown head. Fortunately, the flavour is better. Quite acidic and fruity, some raisin and strong lactic and lemony acidity. Very interesting. Tastes good, but in small doses. joergen (8597), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2009 A Mes rate. Draught at ZBF, also a sample of the ‘other’ version from a bottle thanks muchly to Chris. Guess I should also thank him for the two free samples he gave me later on. What a gent! Glorious dark amber brown colour with a tasty looking tan head. Aroma is awesome. Wonderfully fruity, sour and dry with some excellent damp wooden notes. Flavour... Christ on a bike! That’s what I’m talking about. In all honesty, I was feeling a little basic when I got to Zythos following the awesome Pre ZBF fest at Alvinne. However the moment this little beauty passed my lips I experience total clarity and complete understanding of the universe. It’s just SO much fun. Dry, tart, sour, incredible fruit, some Coca Cola and a character that is both aged and lip smackingly fresh at the same time. Superb length, equally amazing palate. There is just so much to like about this beer. I knew a new De Dolle beer was something to get excited about but this one really exceeded expectations. An utterly stunning beer and a real shame that the chances are high that I’ll never get to taste it again. thewolf (5744), Kolding, Denmark

Pours muddy brown with a nice, creamy, beige head. Great duration. Aroma is very woody, some clear fruity and woody tartness. There is a touch of roasted malts as well. Fine mouthfeel, highish carbonation. Flavour has nothing to do with a porter, but is otherwise wonderful. Plums, raspberries, caramel, wood, residual sugars to balance the tartness. Great ,long, sourish aftertaste. Reminded me quite a lot of Goudenband. JorisPPattyn (5171), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Draught Good yellow head; deep reddish-brown beer. Imposing lactic nose, sour, announcing itself with no mistake, fruity. Even a bit acetic, with obvious woody shades. Fruity flavours (oranges, apples, cherry,...) Very woody & lacitc, sweet-sour. Beer is served too cold, when warming up, tastes are fully blooming. Lipsmacking sourish feel, lemony, and medium bodied. Certain slickness. OK. This IS a great beer. Kris, you’re excused IMO for usurping the sacred name. Fin (3420), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 10, 2009 Draught at Zythos Beer Festival, March 7th and 8th 09 Pours dark brown with a light beige head. The nose has some Greek yoghurt touches initially and then a splash of balsamic vinegar. Taste is really quite sour, wet woodiness, nice tang to it, dries a little and then the Balsamic and Yoghurt on the nose make an appearance in the mouth. If I was tasting this blind I would have sworn that there were some cherries in this. Doesn’t seem like a Porter at all but to be fair that is about the only thing that I could be critical about. This was really, really lovely,. I initially scored it 4.1 it was my first of the festival but I finished with it and it was even better, so it moved up a couple of mark’s. Easily the best beer of the festival for me, a stunner. A8 A5 F8 P4 OV17 4.3
