Commercial Description:
De Dulle Teve is brewed in the tradition of a Belgian Triple. Its high density stems from large amounts of pale malt increased with pale candi sugar in the brew kettle. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle-conditioned.

De Dulle Teve keeps two to three years without major changes in taste. Further maturing, up to 10 years, will cause it to darken a little and lose some of its bitterness. The bittering of about 30 IBU is due to Goldings hops in the brew kettle.

This poured a golden yellow with a large white fluffly head that was well retained. The head left a lot of lacing all around the glass. The aroma was of sweet fruits, orange, lemon zest, spices, and yeast. The sweet fruits are upfront in the taste with peaches, oranges, and bananas. I also get some sweet malts and some caramel in there along with spices. It is medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel that finishes clean and spicy with some alcohol warmth. This is one tasty brew that is really easy to drink especially for being 10%. All the flavors are incredibly well balanced. Another great beer from De Dolle.

33cl bottle. Poured a golden color, definitely some banana esters in the aroma and flavor. Good beer but not my favorite from De Dolle just due to alcohol burn/overpowering.

330ml bottle. Pours a very cloudy golden with a massive four finger head that takes a good ten minutes to fade to a thick cap. The remaining foam leaves behind a ton of lace on the glass. Snell; it took a while before I could get a goof whiff of this one with the huge head. Once it settles though there was a bunch of tropical fruits with pineapple, tangerine and peaches. There’s also a pretty good malty backbone in here, and a bit of a spiciness form the yeast. Taste; the fruits are very evident with the pineapples and peaches coming through the most, but there’s a really nice earthy/herbal presence that I wasn’t expecting. The sweet malts come through as caramel, sugar cookies and a little honey. The finish is a touch on the spicy side from the yeast and some alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a bit of a biting carbonation, and the drinkability is good. I bought my bottle several months ago, and it took me forever to get around to it because I was a little sick of tripels at the time. I’m glad I waited until now because I think I enjoyed more now than I would have when I purchased it.

7-8 year old update, courtesy TheCheeseMan, from boboski’s cellar. 750ml bottle. Incredible how well this brew has held up over the years. So few brewers do Tripels well. This is one of them. Great beer.

Rated 8/3/07. Bottle at Redlight Redlight. Courtesy boboski. Cloudy yellow-orange body. Thin white head with a prominent rim around the edges. Minimal, spotty lacing noted. Aroma was sweet banana, sour lemon, yeast, and coriander. The fruity esters really almost fizz on the nose, which is quite pleasing. The flavor incorporates all of the aromas, along with a good dose of creamy lemon meringue and a mildly dry, spicy finish. Medium body that goes down incredibly smooth. Great beer.

Very spicey and peppery. Bitter and hoppy with an nice warm alcohol waft at the end of each sip. Nice color with a massive rocky head. Color darkens with age and looses some of the bitter notes, so drink while it is young.
