Commercial Description:
De Dulle Teve is brewed in the tradition of a Belgian Triple. Its high density stems from large amounts of pale malt increased with pale candi sugar in the brew kettle. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle-conditioned.

De Dulle Teve keeps two to three years without major changes in taste. Further maturing, up to 10 years, will cause it to darken a little and lose some of its bitterness. The bittering of about 30 IBU is due to Goldings hops in the brew kettle.

11.2 oz bottle-pours lightly cloudy orange with a small fizzy white whispy head with some lacing along the edge of the glass. nose is fruity/ funky, estery with lots of sweet ripe citrus. smells more funky than alot of trippels i have had A light dusty ester comes in there as well. flavors are sweet, light funk, light citrus, tart yeast, actually very tart, especially on the finish. almost like a grapefuit without the bitterness. finish is very tart with lingering funky yeast. Very nice trippel with some nice coplexity.

This is a dry, well-hoped tripel. Pale in color and an impressive white head. There is a hint of sweetness but this is nothing like a tripel that is actually sweet, like Karmeliet. I taste some grapefruit in addition to the dry hops. I have waited a long time to have this and I’m glad I finally had the chance.

330 ML bottle-Poured a cloudy, hazey off orange color w/almost no head. Sweet aroma of sugar cane/cotton candy. Crisp flavor of citrus & spice, with some dough & brown sugar thrown in. Rich full complex flavor. Long finish. It’s good, but it’s no Special Reserva 2005-but not much else is!!

Rerate-on Tap 11/10/07- Even better than I remember. A lot more of the sweetness came thru on tap. Long smooth finish. Easy drinker.

Pours a hazy thick, orange amber color. The head is minimal. Smell is a bit piny, cedar, and buttery. Taste is yeasty, leathery, and a bit minty. The bottle was cold but the beer poured out perfect temp. This beer had a lot of interesting sediments at the bottlom of the bottle which were very chewy and sweeet/sour.

330 ml bottle from Sam’s in Chicago. Hazy golden amber colour with a mostly lasting creamy off-white head and thick lacing. Caramel, citrus, spices, light acidity, alcohol, floral, and persimmon aroma with dry yeasty notes. Caramel, candy sugar, orange and lime citrus, spicy, and yeasty flavours, with a sweet brown sugar finish. Full bodied, warming, almost chewy mouthfeel, but effervescent. Very tasty, but seems underattenuated for a tripel.

[bottle, no date] Tart, fruity aroma- sweet honey and pear. Pours a super cloudy, yellowish/gold color, with a huge white head, leaving some nice lacing along the glass. Flavors are initially quite sugary, with apple/pear fruitiness and yeast character. Very complex and full bodied; peppery hops blend with more yeast and candi sugar in the finish. Alcohol is quite noticable, but not harsh at all. Overall a really nice, complex triple.

2004 bottle. Decent aroma that was kind of funky. Good cloudy appearance with lots of activity and decent head. Flavor is a little bitter and sour at first. Changes personality after warming. Odd brew. Re-rate with a fresh bottle. I enjoyed this better than the aged bottle. Good taste that only got better as it warmed. Good balance.

33cl bottle. Cloudy orange/amber, thick frothy head diminishing slowly but surely. Tart fruit and yeasty aroma like other tripels, with a bit more cheesiness here, even a slight hint of truffles at first. Sweet flavors dominate---raw sugar, some toffee, golden raisin, orange zest and dried and sugar-powdered pinapple rings with some alcohol vapor misting up now and then. Medium, spirited palate. Very good, almost excellent tripel if only the sweetness were taken down just a bit.
