| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 29, 2009 (My first beer rated since our first-born son, Alexander Dean, joined the family on October 17. Cheers to momma and Xander!) Bottled, courtesy of Narnad, who provided us two bottles (one for me, one for mom). Moderately cloudy, browned orange in color. Frothy white head is absolutely huge, leaving thick, sticky lacing. Musty and yeasty nose, some ripened plums and dates, nutmeg, banana peel, cloves and peach pit. Some decent black pepper spiciness to the nose as well. Floral, yet spicy flavor, nice estery sweetness with vanilla malts, hints of raspberry and candied ginger. Very soft, pillowy carbonation. Finish is dry with some wheat tangyness, a touch too dry for my tastes, and I get a little too much alcohol at the end. But overall, a darn near perfect tripel. Tasty and truly enjoyable.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Pours a slightly hazy honey with citrus nose. Very sweet aroma slightly reminiscent of a fruited wheat. Crisp lemon flavor with a beautiful sweetness to it. The real beauty is the crisp finish
Very neat and dry finish with balanced carbonation. Jblauvs (597), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Hazy peachy pour with a light offwhite head. Aroma is spicey yeast and a nice lemon zest. Candied sugar and nectar fruit in the mouthful with a bit of bubblegum. Stickiness and sweet sugary fruit in this one with a touch of booze. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Pour is hazy peach whilst the head is thin and white. The bottle gushed like a bawse. Aroma is orange citrus- like that fine fruit mist left in the air upon shooting your friend in the eye with an orange slice. Further aromas present in the form of Christmas angelfood cake, and pie dough- nunce the grain. The most modest of alpha acids are present- only enough to entice the nostrils but never overpowering or abrasive. Doughy with the quintessential De Dolle bugs. Flavor is like putting orange, lemon and grapefruit in a blender with copious sugar (of the most widely varied and stereotypical Belgian types), adding sugary lactose, and gratuitous ethanol. Baller. A yummy, spicy, sugary dough fest that kicks your ass with elegance and thorough complexity. Palate is medium to full bodied with mouth bursting carbonation, massively warming booze, and a semi-dry and sticky finish. Thanks James. craftycarl21 (560), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Cloudy orange pour that gushed upon opening the bottle. Aroma holds yeast, spice, wheat, lemon, grain malt, and perhaps a bit of orange and nectarine. Flavor is quite sweet, with candied sugars, wheat, spice, and some more citrus. Palate is medium bodied and stays on the tongue nicely. A really nice tripel, but not earth shattering for the style. Nonetheless, up there in the best 5 or so that I’ve had so far in this genre. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine. Cloudy gold pour with a thin white head. Fruity nose of bananas and bartlett pear with a touch of funk. Syrupy sweet banana flavor with a bit of pepper in the finish. BiddleBrau (330), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Golden with dense long lasting white head and lots of visible carbonation. The aroma is pungent from a foot away, spicy, hoppy and a bit musty. Flavor is initially sharp but then tempers itself with candy sugar sweetness. The mustiness is present in the flavor as well. The sweetness is a bit cloying but the hops balance it so it’s not unpleasant. A very distinctive brew, full of passion, perhaps slightly angry? Reminds me of a few ladies I’ve met. beerbill (1965), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Thanks to MaxxDaddy for sharing this at Paul’s homebrewing session yesterday. Pours a hazy gold with a white head and lots of floaties scattered about. Very pleasant aroma of yeast, citrus, spice and a little bit of funk. The flavor is yeast with a little bit of mustiness, citrus and some spice. Some mild funk and some faded hops also present in the flavor (I believe this bottle was four or five years old if I recall correctly). There is an underlying mild sweetness as well. Very good. dand645 (102), Bayonne, New Jersey, USA
