Commercial Description:
Dolle Dulle Teve Special Reserva 2004 is a special version of De Dolle's Dulle Teve, which has been matured for over 24 months in wooden casks previously used by Etienne Dupont/France to mature his famous Calvados de Normandie. The over two year maturation in those wooden casks has allowed De Dolle Dulle Teve to mellow, lose its agressive carbonation and dryness, and develop a new balance of flavors triggered by the tannin, vanilla and butterscotch flavors of E.Dupont's Calvados casks. In addition the "invisible" Calvados hidden in the wood itself has pushed the alcohol of De Dolle Dulle Teve Special Reserva to about 12% to 13%

Thanks to apoptosis and notalush for sharing this. Deep yellow-gold with lots of suspended yeast. Aroma is very sweet and fruity, with tropical mango, pineapple and sweet baked apples with brown sugar. Lots of bready/yeasty notes, heavy spice and light cinnamon and clove aromatics. Flavour is much more peppery and alcoholic than the aroma would suggest. Apple brandy, oaky vanilla character. The aroma really is incredible, but the flavour is much more muted and hot than the original Dulle Teve. The brandy character comes out in the flavour but it seems to detract from the original beer, rather than enhance it.

Pours a golden hazy color with a bubbly light white head. Very citric orange smell, which is quite prominent. Very sweet malty taste. Big. thick orange citrus taste and kind of syrupy as well. Very light hops are also detected. Slight sourness, or the delusion of sourness, is also detected as well. As it warms, I get alot more orange candy sugar as it becomes very sweet. Very good.

11.2-oz. bottle graciously provided via trade with hopdog; 2003. Pours cloudy orange with light particles and a large frothy white head, mostly lasting, good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, straw, meal), average hops (flowers, citrus), average yeast (earth) with notes of grapes, apple, cask and wine. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.
