The aroma contains some funk, for sure, plus tart apple and some spice. The flavour has some sweetness with more of that tart apple flavour. Some wine like flavours as well as dry oak and alcohol. There is some lemon like flavours and a bit of funk in the taste as well. It feels light on the tongue because of the heavy carbonation. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA

Thanks to bkelley68 for sharing this after the Stoudt’s fest...
Appears a hazy, orange toned gold with a fluffy white head that refuses to yield. Tons of spotty lacing left all around the glass.
Smell is of funkadelic oak, tart apples, mild horseblanket, vanilla cream, lemony citrus jumping out with obvious infection not quite as big as Rodenbach but there enough to raise your eyebrows and take heed. It’s really addictive with the sweetness melding together with tartness.
The taste is of the mentioned aromas with an addictively sweet & tart brew backed up with gentle amounts of sugary caramel, along with some yummy berries. Delicious.
Mouthfeel is bold with vinous notes, tart brett, obvious alcohol, and a dryness in the swallow.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 17, 2006 Bottle, labeled "Aged in Calvados Casks 2003". Poured light-to-medium golden with lots of rising carbonation, a creamy off-white head, and some sediment from the bottom. The aroma was fantastic... first whiff exposed the Calvados... then came an unexpected gueuze-like presence (sour lemon, funky, dusty yeast, and spices)... some oaky overtones. The flavor was most excellent too.. sour musty lemon and brandy spike the tip of the tongue followed by apple sweetness, more alcohol, and moderate funky yeasty goodness. The palate was OK, but felt overcarbonated and forced at times... the sour notes and dry finish were great... there was just a whole helluva lot going on here. Long, dry finish. Excellent! Hazy gold with a large foamy white head, nice sticky lacing. Lovely sweet malt aroma, lots of funky and spicy yeast, dry, lemony, tons of alcohol - really good - briney. Lovely balance of flavours - spice, yeast, candy malt, sour lemon - hints of barleywine and flemish sour here, very complex. Decent body, very lively, long alcoholic finish - terrific brew, one to savour. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia

Well now the ’Bitch’ is really mad, she’s been hidden away for far too long but it has done her some good. Poured a slightly hazy medium gold with a little bit of ’sea-monkey’ floating about. Head erupted up the flute and settled out rocky and an inch thick, being held in place by many fine streams of carbonation. Adherent, it managed to frost down most of the glass before receding into wispy lacing. Strange aroma, or more specifically a strange amount of words could some it up. Souring white wine gone mouldy in the oak, tart lemons and juicy honeydew, plasticine, pine-nuts and white vinegar, some inklings of burnt sugar mixed with citric acid and just a little sweaty sock. It was funky, complex and striking, altogether bonded by some peppery alcohol. Toffee and alcohol up first in the mouth as it grips its claws in hard and some adjustment was needed. Sweetness dissipates as it glides into it’s aged vinous form. Some oak and pine tries desperately to keep it grounded as the smooth, fruity and floral flavours encompass the palate into a frenzy. Tangy, lemon conserve, chardonnay white wine, vanilla and whole cloves, ripe grapefruit and some bitter, fresh chopped herbs. Alcohol is present in high form but it compliments the seductive spiciness and smoothness of its relatively big body. Finish is long displaying some more tangy fruit and alcohol that tickles and warms as it goes down. Nice lingering sweetness belies the dryness felt in the swallow. I quite liked this, good in small volumes. A lot more flavour integration than that shown in the Oerbier Reserva. A very nice drop. Cheers. pineypower (1104), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is of some grapes, yeast and some wood. The taste is complex with a whole range of tastes. Citrus fruit with some spicy notes and a little wood and pepper on the finish. Hazy dull gold pour with huge off-white head that acquired an odd shape with every repour. Aroma of floral spices, funky yeast, hopcitrus, some orangy and black pepper notes. Tastes floral, spicy, with a dry palate that gets hot as it warms. Flavors of funky malt, orange zest, black pepper, hops, and butterscotch were also noted. Some brown sediment was observed at the bottom of my tulip glass. TheEpeeist (1480), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA

With last pour gets cloudy; white and brown floaties. Orange liqueur nose; vinegar in the back. Prominent alcohol. Orangy caramel gets a little bitter, peppery. Sort of light with medium carb. I didn’t pick up on the wood at all. One for the cellar.
