The appearance was a murky cider color with hefty sedimentation and a very nice, well sustaining head and continuous carbonation. The aroma was of candy apples and light cinammon, some yeast. Flavor of apples, grapes, and wine. Upon further warming, light yeast, vanilla, oak, and white pepper. Mouthfeel was moderate to heavy for the style, smooth, but amply carbonated even after aging. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 14, 2006 Smells tart like a Berliner Weiss or a gueuze. Fresh and assertive nose. Huge, larger bubble head. Hazy orange with some yeast floaties at the bottom of the glass. Lots of visible carbonation. Explosion of flavor. Much more than I expected, although I hadn’t looked to see that it was 11%. Quite lovely. Very well balanced. It’s tough to imagine how they’d make this brew better. The fact that I only have a German weissbier glass instead of a tulip while I am in transition between permanent dwellings did not diminish my enjoyment of this brew. I look forward to the other De Dolle brews I have in the fridge.

Shit, if I wanted liquid Pop Rocks I would buy them. The non BA brew was better. The flavors were very muddled and not definible alobar (1032), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

Supe rsmooth. Bit of a hot edge on the aftertaste. Tastes of butterscotch, vanilla with hints of citrus. Excellent offering! NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

Aroma is spicy and sharp on the nostrils. Some fruit notes play in the background. Orange body with a thin white head. Fore is thinnish and spicy tasting. Muted pear notes, huge calvados notes, Some mildly bitter citrus peel notes are tingly on the tongue. Low malt presence is mostly caramel accented. Just wasn’t getting his. nothing really stood out for me other than the spicy/tingly citrus asspects and while the range and intensity was decent that overall feel was a bit thinnish for the style. Obviosuly a solid beer, but not a great one to me. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 8, 2006 11.2 oz capped bottle (2003-2004 version, sampled 7 July 2005): Clear golden peach with an intense small, white bubbled head that grows creating large bubbles, but eventually settles into a thin (though dense), patchy foam. The yeast has a strangle hold on the deep, resiny-pumpkin and butterscotch alcohol aroma restraining it enough to allow pineapples, vanilla beans, sweet oak, peppered sourdough, tangerine/apricot marmalade and honeydew to waft through the nostrils…Complex with an absolutely incredible breadth of flavours: bitter, lightly sweet grapefruity hops with a subtle pepperiness. Sweet & juicy pears blend with airy alcohol, white grapes and herbal honeysuckles to pull me deeper into this amazing concoction. The tingly carbonation is almost an after-thought here, which is just another testament to the amazing flavours within, considering how perfectly the bubbles cling to and roll over my tongue. A true masterpiece. 9/4/9/5/18
11.2 oz capped bottle (2003-2004 version, sampled 8 May 2006): hazy apricot with the addition of a bit of the yeast, strong, short, Styrofoam like head, moving into small circular patches. The butterscotch aroma still dominates, but the alcohol has mellowed a bit with more noticeable vanilla and tannin/yeast mix. The alcohol feels/tastes a bit hot today, but opens the door to a strong hoppy, pepperiness…along with wine grapes and light honey. Great texture and carbonation on the tongue, though not quite as spectacular as the first…but is it ever? 8/4/8/5/17 fluids (364), USA

Complex smooth flavor with vanilla, toffee with strong alcohol but subtle compared to the unconditioned Dulle Teve. Dry. Highly recommended.
