| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 28, 2005 Updated: Feb 7, 2008You couldn’t have a better looking beer. Apricot orange color with a thick Gillette Foamy head. Aroma is pineapple and apricot with some orange peel. Taste is malty and smooth, with Belgian yeast and candi sugar all mixed into a battery froath. Not sticky sweet as the regular version but boozy, Sinatra-like. Earthy, hoppy, resin, and spices liven up the party. Great now and I can only guess will be better much later. This is going on my Want List. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 24, 2005 Poured a cloudy amber with a thick creamy white head that left uniform lacing. Aroma of grapes, wild cherries, cinnamon, lemon, and alcohol. Taste is lots of pear and wild cherries, with a huge alcohol tang. This beer is hot, hot, hot! Sets my mouth on fire and burns all the way down, turning my stomach into a lava pool. The original Mad Bitch is probably a little smoother and therefore a little nicer, but this is still complex and great. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2005 Gusher. Body is a slightly dirty and solidly hazy gold color. Fizzy lasting white head.
Fruity oak aroma… apples, sweet toffee, maybe some peaches and perfume. Also an odd combination of a green hop and pipe tobacco. It suits me well and is fairly aggressive.
Mild brandy-like character to this belgian blond. Light hopping and apples.
Still a decently fizzy beer, compared to the normal Teve. Alcohol is more apparent.
Overall… I was mildly disappointed with the normal Teve, but it did grow on me as it warmed and flattened out a bit. This one is a bit nicer with the added flavors from the calvados.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 22, 2005 This bottled brew poured a very large sized head that filled my mug with foamy finely sized white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a very hazy yeasty light orange brown colored body with suspended carbonation, many yeast floaties and an excellent thick foamy spiderweb lacing. The aroma was malty fruity and musty. It had an initially smooth vinous start, a vinous middle and tingly vinous finish that left behind a fading finish of very notable alcohol. The flavor contained vinous malty yeasty fruity yeasty notes. Very yummy indeed! jsquire (2113), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2005 Golden amber color with a foamy white head like beaten egg whites. Big nose of yeast, must, and apple juice. This is my second shot at this beer and I want to see if I change my mind in the more controlled setting of my computer desk. Very carbonated and almost too lively. Lots of white wine, oak, vanilla and alcohol. As it warms the apple juice flavor comes to the fore. Dry finish. I think I like the regular better. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 14, 2005 33cL bottle. Horizontal with Special Reserva. I try to rate a different top shelf beer during Monday Night Football. Week ten. Cowboys vs. Eagles. Keyshawn vs T.O. Perfect for a Mad Bitch horizontal. Then TO had to go and get suspended. Thanks a lot, T.O.!!
Poured like ginger ale. Much smaller initial head than the non-barrelled Teve, but had the same level of floaties. The lacing never really went away. When fresh from a chilling, the aroma is yeasty and musty, like most Belgians. But, there’s also a strong vinous and alcohol component, like other barrel-aged Belgians. I must admit, the aroma turned me off at first. After it approached room temp, it started to smell like ... well ... Pledge. I guess that means vanilla and lemon. The alcohol is VERY present at first in the mouthfeel. In fact, it wasn’t good. It goes through an amazing transfornation as it warms. It becomes sweet like a candied apple with corriander as it warms. Unlike the regular (unbarrelled), it sweetens when warmed. The finish is sweet and dry, like the unbarrelled version. Both are very good, and I can’t really decide which one I liked more. (Back to the MNF thing ... Sam Ryan is HOT!) | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 13, 2005 another generous offering from Rich in a recent trade. at first the nose is musty yeast and some apple spice. you can tell upon the pour that there is a lot of carbonation here, which doesn’t always sit well with me, and the first couple of sips confirm this. so I let this sit in my snifter for about 30-40 minutes and came back.
what a difference! now the carbonation has subsided a bit, the flavors are more pronounced of apple, wood notes, vanilla and hints of butterscotch and lemon. and still after all this time it has a thin layer of foam and great looking lace chases its way down the sides. never did notice any abv presence. while not my favorite style, this was a good one, thanks rich
