Pours a clear, bright, oily honey-orange color; fluffy off-white head with solid retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Very pleasant aroma, showing a solid, mildly tart apple-cider / Calvados character, with a lot of yeastiness, butterscotch, and slightly dry breadiness throughout. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: the Calvados barrel presence is well-integrated with the original generous and dry character of Dulle Teve; loads of butterscotch, apple juice, yeast, and bread; relaxed carbonation compared to the original, and without any rough booziness from its time in the barrel; some alcoholic warmth is certainly present, but not overly so; very nicely done beer, though not quite as good as its base. Lengthy finish, showing plenty of bread and dough, with lingering apple notes and dry yeast. joss (3690), Garching b. München, Germany

Aroma is vinious up front, with malt, wood, and vanilla notes. Flavor is the same, with an interesting alcohol burn at the end. Amazing complexity added to this already-great beer.
