HUGE head - it went almost an inch over the glass and stood still, like an incredibly well-foamed cappuccino. Black in color with a light brown head. The aroma is very mild, and belies the powerful flavor. Notes of cacao, coffee, molasses / dark brown sugar, and a bitter aftertaste suggesting a much hoppier brew. The coffee really comes through at the end, too. Palate is dry and clean, but the flavor is deep and rich. Wonderful. drfabulous (1275), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 16, 2008 The gem in a stout tasting. But is this really a stout? Lots of malts and musky flavor. Sweet. But a stout? The Belgians do it differently. GilBier (75), Dendermonde, Belgium

Aroma is coffee like and slight hoppy with some hints of roasted malts and black chocolate. Taste is clean with lots of roasted sensations, touches of coffee, chocolate and soft hops. mouthfeeling is medium to full and longlasting. A great Belgian styled Stout. nightrider (383), encinitas, California, USA

Wonderful vinous chocolate with earthy rather Belgian style. Sour chocolate in mouth, with good hops notes and some coriander. Rich and enjoyable. Tasted Spring 2006. RIXbeer (102), USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Pours a dark chestnut/chocolate brown with no light penetration. 3+ fingers of head. HOLY WOW THAT’S SOME HEAD! Huge smell of prunes, chocolate, a hint of molasses and some licorice. Has that Belgian "Funk" as I call it. I’m not sure this is a stout. I don’t care, smells great! Deep rich chocolate and molasses covered prunes. This is a brew that has been blessed by the gods. There are hints of mint and licorice along side with a hint of anise and some bitter chocolate. A+ Taste! OMG this beer makes me want to guzzle, but I think twice and enjoy each and every sip. This beer is creamy and smooth. it’s a lot like cream itself except it is beer, a really really great beer. Another hit by De Dolle! Very drinkable! I am in love with this beer and I strongly believe that a little cellaring time will only enhance this mystical brew! Thank you De Dolle! Travlr (787), Washington, Washington DC, USA
