| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 3, 2008 bottle by way of yobdoog... opaque black body with a hot cocoa colored head. it’s fluffy and leaves a bit of lacing as it comes to permanent rest as a film. chocolate-y aroma with whiffs of ash, black raisins, coffee, lactose and some spiciness (from the yeast?). the flavor is kinda christmas cake-y... yeast, licorice, dried fruits along with chocolate, charred wood, coffee, figs, floral yeast and raisins burnt on the grill completely dried out and hollow. you know you shouldn’t eat them but you do any way. tart dry finish leads to coffee in the aftertaste. medium body. acidic carbonation... and a lot of it. relatively easy to put away @ 9%. pepperford (115), robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 1, 2008 Very dark, with a medium tan head that is very carbonated. Aromes of sugar, cola, cocolate, malts. Not the worst belgian stout, but I just don’t like the carbonated, sweet, belgian style. I will stick to amcerican and endglish-irish examples. I do like the label that is a blatant ripoff of Harvey’s Imperial Stout, I just wish it were half as good. Scauca (413), Lovere, Italy
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Black with the peculiar huge Dolle’s head. Very strong aromas. The typical slight acidity that characterize brews from that brewery. Spicey. Chocolatey. Coffee. Luscious. BeerGestapo (740), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 29, 2008 (Belgium) Pours a sweet black color with a beautiful foamy tan head.( appx 2 1/2 inches) The aroma is of dark malts, chocolate, coffee, and spices. The mouthfeel is thick and yummy with a dry bitter finish. Taste is of roasted malts, coffee, hops and espresso. This was a full bodied stout from De Dolle that will not disappoint. :) daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2008 Black pour and a tan head. Aromas of raisins, malt, and some chocolate. Flavor is toasty and chocolate and some espresso. Not bad, but not the best ever. Still very enjoyable. paiste2002 (158), Saugus, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 24, 2008 Pours a very dark black with an off white head. Aroma is of fruit, berries, dark roasted malt, very complex. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, maybe some coffee, some bitterness in the finish. Over all not my favorite of the De Dolle line but still very drinkable enjoyable stout. stobbe74 (714), Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 21, 2008 Bottle, 33cl. Pours a pitch black beer with a frothy off-white head. The arome is fruity with blackberries and tobacco. Lots of complex aromas based on dark roasted malts. The flavor follows the nose with some alcohol, some acidity and fruits. The beer is a little overcarbonated, but overall a very nice belgian stout. NomDeBeer (400), Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 20, 2008 This one exploded on me as I popped the top, so there was only about 5 oz. left to drink. Not crazy about the aroma, but the taste is good - strong note of grainy coffee, plus roasted malt and hoppy bitterness. Some alcohol warmth. Smooth palate with a lingering bitter finish. Will rerate when I can drink an entire bottle.
