Hazelnut, chocolate, currant, licorice, and sourdough aroma. Kind of a hybrid tart/sour flavor mixed with more typical stout like features. A pretty good mixture, but the sour just doesn’t quite work here. Not bad, I guess it’s just not my cup of tea. malrubius (1005), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Black with huge (way to much) brown head and lace. Earthy dark chocolate and yeast and cookie dough aroma. Chocolaty sugary dark fruit flavor with surprising bitter bite. Lingering sugar and bitterness. Medium full body and medium-high carbo. Really too much carbonation. Fairly complex with a mixture of pleasant and harsh flavors. jdjuice (203), Japan
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2008 I made the mistake of not giving this enough time to cool down. Opened this up and it immediately gushed out of the bottle and all over the kitchen. Very highly carbonated. Flavors were very dark and musty. Quite dry and complex, kind of similar to flavor notes found in scotch. I want to try again with a well refrigerated bottle. MuttyD (93), Cambridge, USA

Aroma is moderatly malty of dark bread , grain and roasted malts. lightly hoppy of pine and lemons, heavily yeasty , barnyard, grapes, apple and port. Flavor starts balanced nice roasty flavor on the sweet side with an interesting yeast flavor finishes more sweet but same malt profile. medium bodied, creamy and fizzy. Way to much co2 for style. Pitch black, big head of course. Nice roastiness to it. Warm alcohol straight up, suprising for 9%. A little bitterness in the finish as well, quite good. lampeno420 (321), Zeeland, Michigan, USA

I managed to read the word stout, but it didn’t look like one when poured. Dark brown in color with hardly any head. First taste is musky and dry, but hugely carbonated. A very nice sipper, as it would take a few of these to pick out all the flavors. Thanks to BillVanE!
