Insanely high carbonation; my pint glass has about an inch of beer and 7 inches of head. After that settles, I pour with painstaking slowness to get it down to about 2 fingers of head. Great retention but surprisingly no lacing. Aroma is of cocoa powder, peanut skins, and prune juice. Flavor is of brown sugar with a big prune influence. Quite similar to the aroma actually. Mouthfeel is waaay too heavy on the carbonation, makes it hard to drink.

deep and dark brown that is nearly the absense of color. what hit me first about this beer is the strength of the hopping, different for a stout. nose is simple drip coffe, candy, and hops. drinks smooth and with a hop kick to a finish. great approach to the style.

Bottle. Poured dark. This beer has some serious carbonation, Nice burnt notes to go with the chocolate and coffee. It has a nice belgian style sweet finish to it. I found this to be an interesting combination of two styles. Nice beer.

Pours a very dark black with a massive tan head! Strange aroma of sweet roasted malts, black licorice, chocolate, and a rubbery sour smell. Wow, even for a stout the Belgian yeast jumps right out with a strong citric, acidic, sour finish. Strange pairing with this chocolatey coffee initial taste from the stout... Nice full body with a little dryness on the finish from the alcohol. Sips a stout, swallows a Belgian.

I thought this was gross......for the most part...it had a weird wintergreen flavor that I found super distracting......maybe I had a bad bottle.....looked great though

11.2 once bottle. pours black with slowly shrinking tan head. Aroma is roasty with notes of chocolate. Flavor is sweet malt, chocolate and carmel. Finishes sweet. Good balance for abv but will not go out of way to buy again.

(3/7/08) Bottle at ’t Brugs Beertje in Bruges. Black with a huge stable light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, a bit of coffee and some yeast. Roasty and very bitter flavor with burnt notes, some hops and spice. Medium to full body.
