Garrafa, em Bruges (BEL), em novembro de 2007. Coloração preta, com creme marrom gigantesco, denso e persistente. Show!!! Notas de café e malte torrado. Amarga, sem tanta personalidade. Stout diferente. Sabor mais aberto, talvez azedo. Seca. Não gostei da proposta. Muito azeda/ácida. Não é tão encorpada como as demais Stout. Desvirtuou um pouco do caminho. Parece mais uma brown ale.

The 11.2 ounce bottle poured an almost perfectly black opaque beverage with a thick, creamy tan colored head that was fully lasting and it left great lacing on the glass. The aroma had a nice balance with the malt aspect coming out on top. There was dark chocolate, molasses, and hints of dark fruit and coffee abounding. There is also an odd nose of dust or earth almost hidden. The body was medium-full with soft carbonation and a creamy smooth texture. The flavor starts out somewhat sweet on the palate and stays that way throughout the moderately long finish. There is noticeable alcohol warmth toward the end as well. My feeling is that this one might benefit from being cellared for a year or two.

Pours dark murky brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is pretty strong in alcohol with a port like quality and a touch of chocolate. Mouth feel is extremely lively with lots and lots of carbonation. Flavor is tart, with a strong chocolate presence. No bitterness is to be found. It’s strange to have such a sour stout, but this is still pretty good.

A super, robust beer with all of the flavors of candy, rich malts, with strong cocoa flavors. A slight on the tart side but very drinkable.

Pour had hugh amble head with pitch black body. The nose is musty, with dark dried fruit, yeast and hints of caramel mixed with dark chocolate. the taste is largely dark roasted malt, hints of burnt chocolate and sugars. Good flavor but not balanced with enough sweetness.

$4.49/11.2oz, probably from Holiday Wine Cellar on 8/2/07. 2 finger small bubble head fades to a finger creamy mass of tan microfoam goodness on a pitch black liquid. It’s really a sight to see. Guinness would be proud. Very mild aroma. Musty. Maybe a bit of chocolate and banana. Some residual sweet, and some tart dryness, but not too much to be unpleasant. Mild alchohol presence, reducing drinkability slightly. Not so much hop bitterness, but more of a bitter chocolate bitterness. Lots of flavor, but I wish it had more sweetness.

From bottle. Had the pleasure of enjoying this beer over the weekend, and might I say it was amazing. The pour was rich chocolate with a light brown head that lasted. The aroma was like walking into fall, dark fruit and espresso. This is definitely a beer that coats the mouth, making sure all the taste buds get a chance to experience something.

The aroma has hazelnuts, sour fruit, chocolate, coffee, yeast, heavily toasted malt, and earth. The appearance is dark brown with a very large head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is pretty good. Overall it’s not as good as I was expecting.
