May 9, 2007 Pours black with a THICK brown head. The aroma on this is pretty sweet which actually surprised me a bit. Taste is much the same, even though the roasted and nutty notes are there I get alot of sweetness from this stout and I can’t say I like it all that much. Mouthfeel is very thin and lacking. I will say this one dissapointed me slightly, I don’t expect my stouts to be over sweet and this one certainly was IMO.

May 7, 2007 Poured a semi-opaque creamy black color with a nougat colored head. Espresso, citrus, spice, smoke, light chocolate, slightly alcoholic, malty, a hint of caramel sweetness in the aroma. Really tastes like a cross between a Belgian ale and an imperial stout.. and whoa, it’s delicious. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, sweet chocolate/candy. Bright, well balanced, bitter in the most perfect way. Mouthfeel is too thin for a stout, but is good for what it is. Dammit, this beer is amazing.

Apr 30, 2007 Pours an opaque black with a brown head. Aroma is malty with some fruity notes. Flavor is roasted malts, with some fruity raisin notes.

Apr 30, 2007 Lots of roasted malt and some nice chocolate in the aroma.Pours black with a medium tan head.Lots of creamy chocolate and some big roasted malt dominated the flavor.Full mouthfeel with a very smooth chocolate finish.

Apr 26, 2007 Tap. Black beer with a fine light head. Complex flavor. Fruity, coffee, licorice flavor. Little fizzy and well balanced.

Apr 26, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark black with a large long lasting tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma initialy is acidic, then the roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, and caramel come through. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, a hint of licorice, and acidic. Almost like a tart Pannepot. One of the most tasty Forien Stouts ever.

Apr 25, 2007 Slightly funky, tart, vinous and roasty aroma. Spicy yeast and hops give this a much different take on stout, although there is an underlying peanut brittle base that I’ve come to equate with certain PNW stouts. The pour on this is fantastic, with a large, super thick and solid head that seriously goes absolutely nowhere for 10 minutes. Even rising above the top of my snifter, I could tilt the glass 45 degrees and have no spillage. Kick ass!
Flavor is smooth, chalky and roasty, less of the funkiness notable in the aroma -- in fact, none at all. In fact, the flavor is pretty much just that of a normal stout. Surprisingly subdued for a beer of "imperial" proportions (9% abv). Nice brew.

Apr 20, 2007 Bottle. Pours a nice black colour with a big light brown head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Flavour of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, alcohol and dried fruits. Roasty finish. Very tasty stout!
