| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 26, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark black with a large long lasting tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma initialy is acidic, then the roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, and caramel come through. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, a hint of licorice, and acidic. Almost like a tart Pannepot. One of the most tasty Forien Stouts ever. puzzl (2649), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 25, 2007 Slightly funky, tart, vinous and roasty aroma. Spicy yeast and hops give this a much different take on stout, although there is an underlying peanut brittle base that I’ve come to equate with certain PNW stouts. The pour on this is fantastic, with a large, super thick and solid head that seriously goes absolutely nowhere for 10 minutes. Even rising above the top of my snifter, I could tilt the glass 45 degrees and have no spillage. Kick ass!
Flavor is smooth, chalky and roasty, less of the funkiness notable in the aroma -- in fact, none at all. In fact, the flavor is pretty much just that of a normal stout. Surprisingly subdued for a beer of "imperial" proportions (9% abv). Nice brew. faroeviking (6127), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Holy crap, the single most reactive head I’ve ever seen. The second it hit the snifter it exploded, I had like an inch and a half of liquid and like three and a half of head. Poured a dark black brew with a head that was brown creamy and already described in thickness, broke down fairly quickly and left very minimal lace. The aroma is very unique for a stout, although this is my first foreign stout so maybe its indicative. Features a very strong licorice aroma, sweet, very very light alcohol, roasted coffee, interesting being a stout coming from Belgium and I think the Arabier yeast has given it a distinct feel to it as well. Tastes very roasted, coffee, alcohol, nut, and a light sweetness. The palate is smooth and full. The finish shows the alcohol and the back of your throat and stomach will warm up. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 1, 2007 The color was a dark chocolate orange. The head was medium/dark tan. The aroma is molasses, musk, and alcohol. The aroma is very complex, and there are many smells which I just can’t put my finger on. The flavor was light molasses, coffee, roast, nutty, and a little tartness. The palate was medium/thick bodied and smooth. The finish was nutty and very warm.
