Bottle. Medium black color with a huge long lacing light brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, burnt, coffe strong, moderate hoppy and yeasty, brown sugar ?, alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is lively, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. Very nice

From the bottle at Moeder Lambic. Nearly black with a creamy hat on: big, long-lasting head that stubbornly sticks to the sides of the glass. I smell malt, sugar and a little copper. Thinner mouthfeel than a traditional stout, stronger alcohol flavor with some slightly bitter maltiness to balance mild sweetness. A little drier and it would have been an ideal beer for me. But still, damn fine. De Dolle might be my favorite brewer these days.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours black with a head that starts the second you open the bottle and tops the glass after the first two ounces. Musky, almost burnt oil smell. Nice coffee malt flavor, almost burnt caramel, but not quite.

[Tasted at Porter-/Stouteve at Carlsens.] Sticky fruits, metallic bitterness. Needs to be warm otherwise it can be very different from what it can be. Very long aftertaste. Oily coffechocs!

11.2 Oz Bottle-Pours a light tan carbinated looking head which filled the glass & eventually settled to a reddish brown color. Seemed way to fizzy for a stout-lots of bubbles & a cola like aroma. Had a carbinated flavor as well, some smoked chocolate & coffee, but they seemed to be drowned out-just too fizzy. Is this beer supposed to be like this? Did I get a bad one?? Never had a foreign stout before so I’m not sure, but it just seems out of wack to me. Wasn’t bad, but I’ve had a lot of better stouts. I’ll have to try another example to compare it to in the future, but this was how this one rated out to me.

Pours a very dark and somewhat murky brown-black color, even a gentle pour provides a huge brown head of foam. Nice lacing. Bready fruity and roasted malt in the aroma. Full of roasted malt and alcohol in the initial sip. Lots of bold flavors: chocolate and coffee and raisin and toffee . Great coffee-then-chocolate in the finish, initially bitter then sweet in the aftertaste. Then it is grainy and toasted and roasted malt. Now a kahlua flavor lingers and lingers. Almost full bodied, exceptionally smooth, with a great carbonation bite. Served at cellar temp in a Belgian goblet. Awesome beer, with the most complex finish I have ever had the pleasure to experience.
