Light gold in color with a large and morphing head of white foam. Beautiful and incredibly fragrant aroma with hints of peach, pear, apple, banana, clove, strong yeast and perhaps a hint of coriander, though I doubt it was used. Coriander continues on suprisingly with big, bright fruit forward notes, especially apple and pear (skin mainly) along with hints of orange peel. Big, full body. Simply an incredible, world class beer in my opinion.

Head is initially huge, frothy, rocky, white, fully lasting. Body is hazy light amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately yeasty (cobwebs), moderately hoppy (lemon, flowers), with notes of apple peel, plum, clove, melon, alcohol, hint of ginger. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. As I’d stated in my original rating, this beer is big on balance/equality...the malt, yeast, and hops all shine through in both the aromas and flavor balance, all quite strongly and in nearly equal abundance. Intense flavors, yet non-abrasive...pure clean bitterness paired with yeasty tartness beats down the huge malt sweetness wonderfully. And I just love these huge rocky heads that look like meringue. It just doesn’t get much better than this.

The beer of my city :) Browed by the dolle browers. It’s a very rare beer, because you don’t find it everywhere. Full aroma with some bitter hopflavor. At the end some sweetness. Only negative point for me is the alcoholic flavor. But a Top class beer!

cloudy dark orange colour, fine creamy head and a beautiful lacing, aroma of orange peal and bread with some spicy notes, creamy mouthfeel, full-bodied, very strong bitterness, long dry and bitter aftertaste of orange peal and spices with a touch of alcohol - not the most complex of the De Dolle brews but marvelously made and deeply pleasant !

So smooth it doesn’t make a sound when poured. Hazy amber body, huge white head that slowly recedes leaving a beautiful, regular lace on the glass. Intriguing aroma, sweet yet fresh, with traces of herbs, straw, fruit (apple, banana, pear), hops. Taste is malty and yeasty with notes of leather, wood, spices (nutmeg?). FInish is hoppy and bitter. Body is full, creamy, almost chewy, but the beer is as drinkable as a hefeweizen. In my opinion, this is a(nother) masterpiece from the guys at De Dolle. Drinkers beware: this baby can be very dangerous, as the 9% ABV is extremely well hidden...

Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers, Gent, Belgium, 6th March 09 consumed 25-03-09 Pours murky amber with a large fluffy off white head and with some stray streaks of brown yeast from my haphazard pouring. Aroma is really zingy, its a little sour in fact quite intriguing the more you take it in. There is some apple skin and as for the spice it could quite easily be cinnamon intertwined with the apple, its quite lovely. The taste is a touch sharp/citric then sweet then citric again ooh lovely. There is yeast and spice and hops but its the wonderful interplay between the bitter sharp bite and the sweetness. This is another top draw beer from De Doll, superb stuff. A8 A3 F9 P5 OV18 4.4

Bottled. A cloudy golden beer with a huge, compact, adherent and persistent white head. The aroma is powerful and yeasty with malty, hoppy (flowers, grass), fruity (oranges, citric fruits) and spicy (pepper) notes with only a hint of alcohol. Really complex as expected. The flavour has something more than a moderate sweetness with a touch of acidity and many flowery feelings. Really well balanced and with some warming alcohol. It’s hard to say what ingredient prevails in this beer. Medium to full body, lively carbonation, long finish with medium to high bitterness. Another top beer from De Dolle, just fantastic.

I’ve spoken a little with the "brouwers", and they gave me this surprise. So the bottle was an old one, the cap was a little bit foxy (the couple said not to drink this old one, but i was forced upon to drink it by my curiosity...) It was like jerohen’s bottle...The beer has a beautiful appearance with an orange body and a huge foamy head, some freakish sediment. The nose is characteristic citrus-orange, spicey. The flavour is strong too with a powerful hop taste, rich in fruit aromas(sour orange). Dry mouthfeel, aftertaste. Beautiful character. And the brewery is managed by a married couple ... Nice, i have green eye.
