Pours a nice ruby red/brown color with a thick white head. Aroma is sour cherries, tannin, malt caramel, toffee dark fruit. So much going on here. Flavor was equally as complex, some nice fruit, malt notes on the front end, leading into a perfect balance of sour and tannin. I did not want this beer to end. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 22, 2009 reddish brown with large whitish tan head. carbonation is moderate/high. nose has some sourness to it, but not very pungent. initially a mild sourness is evident with oakey and residual malt sweetness also present before a very dry and crisp finish. absolutely no trace of alcohol, despite maybe an internal warmth. on the surface this is a very refreshing drink, but further examination reveals great complexity to the flavor with the abv being an absolute shock. Oud brunes are not common in the US, but can’t imagine many better polomagnifico (535), Saginaw, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2009 2002 Bottle from mashmaster. Aroma has notes of wood, sour cherry, smoke, red vino, leather. Hazy medium amber brown hue with an average sized foamy off-white head that left no lace and mostly diminished. Flavor is sweet, earthy, damp wood and a little tart. Palate is full bodied and lively. Alcohol is well hidden but there is noticable oxidation on this bottle. However, it’s not enough to dominate some really nice flavors. dchmela (1473), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 15, 2009 07 vintage. Pours a dark brown with a thick off white head. Sour cherry vinegar oak barrel aroma. Taste is tart and sour with hints of lemon and cherry, very effervescent. Very light and tangy for such a dark beer, with some nice wood barrel hints. Very sneaky abv, well hidden. Outstanding brew. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA
