bottle. Amber pour with a thin white head. Sharp aroma of citrus/ grapefruit. Tart but wet mouthfeel. Very earthy character with tart notes of citrus and barn funk. You can literally taste the wood in this one. It is a very interesting and complex brew.

2006 vintage. Medium to large sized fluffy off white head sits atop a mahogany colored body. Nose is grape fruitsnacks, tartness, plastic and acid. Taste is salty, tart, pepper, plastic and gasoline. The finish is medium as is the mouth feel. This beer walks the line between a sour and your typical spicy thick and malty BSA. Unfortunately its does neither well and comes up short. Not a fan.

Very nice and complex beer. Thanks to Sprinkle for popping this one. Very solid brew. The wood flavors really come through on this one. A nice hint of bourbon in the aroma, followed by wood and vanilla. Deep, dark fruits abound. Very nice cherry notes in the finish, maybe even some apple. Not as yeasty as I expected, but the yeast/malt/barley combination is fantastic. I get some wood in every sip, but the other flavors swim in and out. The 13% is not noticeable at all. Fantastic.

2007 bottle. Poured a dark, cloudy amber color with a thin off white head. Aroma of sweet malt, sour fruits and some spice. Flavor is very sour and almost balsamic. Tart cherry flavors are present, along with oak flavors. This definately wasn’t my type of beer, but it was still a decent brew.

Thanks to puzzl for sharing this one. 2007 bottle. Deep amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is rich and sweet. Bright fruity apple, soft sweet Belgian malts underneath a soft oaky woody character. Fruity and spicy all at the same time. Rich and very delicious. Soft vineous character with a lingering mix of cherry and spice. Tasty.

bottle from grape and gourmet. pours a dark cherry/mahogony wood color with a light beige head a good visible carbonation. aroma is delicious. red wines, mostly pinot noir dominate, with sour cherries, dried apricots, and hints of cinnamon. flavor is truly special. sour red wine dominates again, but tart cherries and plums come through as well. finish is slightly sour with a dry, fruity aftertaste. highly carbonated with a medium body and lively mouthfeel. 13% is nicely hidden, with zero alcohol burn. an outstanding beer, and a great example of the style.

2007 bottle. Mahogany color with a tight tan head that lingers. Sour fruit, funky aroma is red wine with musty wet wood and cherry. Soft carbonation with a medium to heavy body. Mildly sour fruit flavors of red wine cherry with musty wood cask. Finishes with some sweet dark raison caramel flavors to balance. Nice

2007 vintage from Essen Christmas Festival. Bottle, pours light mohogany with no head. Tons of red wine aromas, red grape, sour cherry. Flavors make this beer very memorable. Again, sour red wine flavors, some sour peach. Moderate to heavy carbonation with a lingering finish. Awesome stuff.
