Dec 20, 2008 2005 vintage. A deep reddish brown ale with a thick unctuous moka head. Full aroma of cherries, lactic acids, veering on Flemish sour, some tannins,light vinous notes. Very nice. In mouth, a sourish beer, like Duchesse de Bourgogne, with notes of ground cherries, some Brett, and a good red wine. Rich bodied. Goes well with an old cheddar, extracting the cherry juice.

Dec 19, 2008 Almost no head. It has cranberry lambic taste qualities. Coca Cola coloring. It dances on the palate with a dull cherry nose with a musty element mixed in. Bite or sharpness is at the back of the palate and has a dry finish at the end. Quite complex and a quite a departure from your standard Oerbier. Excellent and worth the $10.00

Dec 15, 2008 Updated: Feb 1, 2009@ Kerstbierfestival Essen (B). An almost black colored beer, with dark beige head. The aroma is complex of malts, wood, dark fruits and some chocolate. The taste is a little sour, with wood and dark dried fruits. Notes of alcoholand spices. The aftertaste is burny and bitter.

Dec 15, 2008 A slight hazy deep red copperish colored beer with a beautiful off white foam on top. Nose is rich, slight sour, soft spicy and has hints of wood and Cuban tobacco. The taste is very well in balans and the tart fruityness is working well with the rich malty caracter of this great De Dolle beer. Alcohol is well hidden and the finish is refreshing and complex. 13% ?, What 13% ?

Dec 14, 2008 2007 Vintage revealed a brown amber hue with a tan head.Aromas of brown sugar, and malt with some fruitiness. Medium bodied and very smooth and rich. Complex flavors of tart, gentle sour cherry. Long finish in your mouth. Excellent brew as is expected from these Mad dudes.

Dec 9, 2008 2005 Vintage: Bottle opened at Quotations in Media, PA. This was a spectacular flavorful beer with a fullness and taste that resembles a fine Flemish Red. The alcohol is well hidden but it brings the vinuos taste to the forefront.

Dec 9, 2008 2007 vintage. Thanks to Greg (a trade for a Westvleteren 8) at Birreria Paradiso in Georgetown. Deepest maroon color, lively sand-colored head. Aroma - smells like Christmas! Pine & cinnamon. Tastes like an old tawny port, starts vinous & grapy, progresses to a smoky, malty flavour with prunes, dates & oak. Finishes dry and musty, almost like a lambic! Superb.
