Surprising however, is the sour flavor with vinegar, almost a sour ale really. Some light cherry and more balsamic. Kind of rough, or rustic, on the palate. Very unusual and good. The aroma has a lovely sourness and notes of wood, fruits (cherry, plum) and wine. The flavor has medium sourness and maltiness, with some light hops. You can find notes of sour cherry, wood and a vinous sensation. The alcohol is exremely and I repeat extremely well hidden. Only medium body, lively carbonation, quite long dry aftertaste that is medium tart and fruity. Incredibly complex beer and unbelievable this is 13% ABV. A great beer. joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Updated: Feb 27, 20082006 bottle at Uber in Seattle. Deep garnet color with small head and sporadic lace. Intense nose of berry, hop, earth, and cake. Absolutely stunning. Flavors include sour, bitter mingling together in an interplay that remains pure and unadulterated--just when it borders on being strange it comes back to reality. Like drinking a blackberry/chocolate cake. I love this brewery! Skyview (4111), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Sampled at MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering in Maplewood, MN and supplied by Guerde and Oslo. From a 375 ml bottle pours a hazy dark amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a light ring. Aroma is complex of spiced brown sugar, caramel malt, some fruity character with a touch of tart berries. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with a tart fruit and caramel flavor. Finish has a tart fruit and yeast aftertaste with a little bit of alcohol warmth. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA

Thanks to Gurede and Oslo for bringing in the De Dolle goodies! Dark copper color with a thin head. Aroma is very complex and hard to nail down. Some spice and sweet malt. Seemed almost like a bit of mint. The taste is even trickier... A little tart apple, yeasty and strong malt. Quite unique.
