Aroma of raisins, cherries, and maybe vinegar. Appearance is dark red with small white head. Flavor is a bit souer with cherries, red wine, oak and bitter ending. The alcohol is not showing much at all. Overall a splending Belgian strong ale with big aroma and taste.

Rated after the LCRBM 2009 in the Kulminator. Bottle from 2007. Dark brown in the glass, creamy head. Starts complex malty, a little bit fruity. Also modest alcoholic. Finish is intense malty, warming, very well balanced. Not bad!

2007 bottle rom the First Annual Chicago Sour Tasting, thanks to17thfloor. Fruity, funky aroma, hints of tobacco, raisins, little bit of grape candy. Smooth luscious body, wonderfully tart, fruity and complex. Always a winner!

Bottle 2007 Pours a murky brown with a good tan head. The head is bubbly but lasts fairly well. It makes some decent lacing. The aroma is strong, with lots of fruits, bubble gum, and a hint of alcohol. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is a great mix of sweet and tart sourness. Has a dry texture. Has a medium body. The finish is great with a good aftertaste. Not a huge sour fan but this really works for me.

2006. Bottle from Knightly. High expectations and it didn’t let down. Pours a dark brownish-red color with a thick tan head that slowly settles down to patches. The aroma is big; fruity, funky, yeast, perfume, champagne. After it settles for a few seconds I get huge whiffs of cherry and vinegar. Really nice overall scent. The flavors show tart cherries, vinegar, plums, grapes, apples, funk. Finishes tart and dry. A Belgian Strong with a heavy flemish sour influence. Holy smooth... 13%? You’ve got to be kidding me. It tastes like it could be half that. A very tasty beer. I’ll have to get more.

2007. Pours like a champ into the Orval glass, they are both (nearly) made for each other. Dark hazy earthy brown, dense slick smooth creamy tan head. Candied sugar, and a little sour cherry. Little Christmas spice. Dusty dry up front while a sour sting coats my lips and a molasses sweetness settles on the back of my tongue. The tartness moves back and overtakes until my mouth is a swirl of tart citrus, damp soil, horse blanket, milk caramel and a hint of a metallic edge.

Bottled at Cafe Frape in Mestreech, thank you Peter! Vintage 2008 Color is hazy nut brown with huge beige head. soft carbonation. Aroma is astonishing, fruity with some lambic-like sourness, the acidic of the oak. Flavor keeps you further a stubborn sourness, with a mix of fruits same oak in the back, moderately bitter. wood/oak, discret bitterness. which remains with the sweet-sour composition. Amazing!
