Color is hazy nut brown with huge beige head. soft carbonation. Aroma is astonishing, fruity with some lambic-like sourness, the acidic of the oak. Flavor keeps you further a stubborn sourness, with a mix of fruits same oak in the back, moderately bitter. wood/oak, discret bitterness. which remains with the sweet-sour composition. Amazing!

Palate is tart and sour, with great complexity, sour cherries, blackberries, and apples, yeast, spice, horseblanket, wonderful. Just wonderful. Pastor (534), Maine, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 19, 2009 I had this at the lions pride in Brunswick Maine served in a tulip glass it had a wonderful off white head that lasted for the entire time I was drinking the brew. The beer had a dark brown colored body with mahogany Highlights.
The aroma of cherries and apples with other wonderful sour type fruits as well, filled my head. This was a fantastic Flanders Oud Bruin, lightly sour with enough sweetness to keep it really drinkable. Flavors of tart cherries and apples are incredible as well. It had a medium feel in my mouth with enough carbonation to keep my tongue happy.
A little pricey to really be a beer you would drink many of. Defiantly worth the price to try and enjoy once in a while

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 13, 2009 While I was expecting something sour, it was a definite roasted barley flavor coming through loud and clear that surprised me. So many things going on here, sour berries, rich malt, wood, plum, some red wine vinegar. Very tasty! BillKismet (1956), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 10, 2009 (2004) Surprised to see this as a BSA rather than a sour ale, as the 2004 version was decidedly sour. Vibrant sunny amber body with full Brussels lacing. Sour, sweet tart and light candi sugar dominates the bouquet. Moderate sour and tartness in the body. Pretty well-stated and balanced. The alcohol content is masked remarkably well--would never guess this was more than 8 - 9%. Dangerously drinkable and an enjoyable change of pace. tarjei (1762), Bryne, Norway

Brown color, slightly hazy. Fine beige head. Aroma is lovely; fruit and berries, sourness (brett), oak, vinous.... Flavor is just fantastic; a ditinct sourness, berries and fruit, moderate sweetness, wood/oak, discret bitterness. Very fine carbonation. Smooth. High class! And I have some 08-bottels for cellaring:-) Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 30, 2009 2007 bottle, cellar temp into a La Trappe goblet. The Very first De Dolle beer I’ve had that wasn’t a gusher. Cherry crimson with an amber warmth, and a thin head. Wildly complex nose. Sour cherries, leather, vanilla, some blackberries. The berry fruit explodes across the palate but is quickly put into check by barrel funk. Dry, very dry, in fact the finish is almost chalky. Carbonation gives very good texture, and the abv. is only felt in the warmth left from the swallow. Very well intergrated brew, the barrel aging doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb.
