Pours a hazy, very bubbly, dark reddish-orange with a lasting average size foamy tan head. Aroma of slightly sour fruit, oak, sweet malt, alcohol and some sugary sweetness to it -- very nice. Flavour of sour fruit, Belgian yeast, oak, sweet malt and alcohol with some bitterness in the finish -- if I had to nitpick I’d say I would’ve liked it a little maltier. For this much alcohol it’s pretty well hidden. Medium bodied. Very good, I really enjoyed this. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

This is a "sour brown" style ale, but is more complex than most of the others, partially due to 4 years of aging. There are flavors of cherries, raisins, citrus, wood and alcohol, and a bitter finish. The mouthfeel is slightly carbonated. It took half a bottle of adjustment before I started to appreciate the unusual characteristics of this brew, but I ended up liking it a lot. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

Flavour is a highly fruited wonder, with some horseblanket notes as well.Medium bodied, sour, tart, dry and wonderfully refreshing. Magnificent!! Thank mds! schuimkroaat (394), Leuven, Belgium
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 24, 2006 33 cl bottle, brewed and bottled in 2004. Eye: strongly veiled light mahogany on the reddish side, lively carbonation, very good head for such a strength. Nose: lactic fermentation, cherries, banana; hints of wood, nutmeg and bubblegum. Mouth: very much within the ’oud bruin’ frame, with sweet cherries, quite strong spicy notes and subdued but present alcohol. The finish is at first port-like, then long and spicy. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Bottle. 2004 vintage. Pours a murky brown body with a medium creamy brown-white head. The aroma is truly phenomenal - bitter orange citrus, yeasty fruit, bread, caramel, sugar, and alcohol. Quite dry - fruit, tangerine, apple, yeast in a saison/tripel way. Complex with a warming and slow sipper status due to the alcohol. Surprising level of tartness and a certain level of bitterness. Sharp carbonation. Very good. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
