Commercial Description:
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. Brown, mud-like texture. Full, and I mean it, Full bodied beer. De Dolle Malt/yeast aroma and a slight hop bite. A very complete beer, but the Bitch (Teve) is still on top if you know what I mean.

Pours a hazy reddish color with a thin head. Very sweet aroma. Flavors are spicy and malty that are very nicely balanced. A wonderful beer.

11.2 oz bottle - Pours dark brown with a big, lingering head and fine carbonation. It has a yeast and dark fruit aroma. The flavor has substantial fruit notes with mild hops and a hint of tartness. It seems surprisingly light, but the warmth in the finish betrays hte substantial alcohol content. Nice beer.

Bottle, 33 cl. I know this beer more than 20 years. But now taste this for rating. (first time this year i’ll drink it). Brown color, with a big, beige head. Aroma dark malts and dark fruits, light sweet. Full body. Taste is complex but great. Dark fruits, caramel, candy sugar, acoholic. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a nice rich palate.

Very well rounded, complex beer. Pours light brown with one finger head- little ,but not much lacing. Has the aroma of summer fruit like peach and nectarine. Hoppy on the mouthfeel and I can really taste the apple on the finish as mentione before. De Dolle really makes some good beer. I got a sixer at whole foods in raleigh nc for around 25 bucks. It was money well spent

My bottle was probably a little older, because the bottle fermentation had resulted in excessive carbonation. Nonetheless, the taste was all there. This was a very rounded beer, without sharp aromatic notes. At the core was a green apple element similar to that in lambics, but not nearly as sour. This flowed into chocolate and raisins. It was actually difficult to separate components out of the delicious continuum. A little bit of yeastiness and then the elegant hops. Minutes later I taste the remnants of an apple and some mouth-cleansing hops. Beers like this put American beer to shame. This is craftsmanship! It’s not a test of who can put the most malt and hops into the brew.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy brown/amber with a very large light tan head that keeps coming out of the glass and leaves good lacing. Aroma of caramel, chocolate covered cherries, and light acidity. Taste is the same as aroma with a nice mild tart finish and mild spiciness. Medium mouthfeel with a little too much carbonation and mild bitterness. Another wonderfull beer from De Dolle.
