Commercial Description:
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Bottle, 33 cl. A light brwon, light reddish beer with a white large head, becoming a medium head towards the end. The aroma is very nice, with a specific sweet and dark fruity smell. The taste is sweet, dark fruity, with some sourness, a light caramel/coffee note and ends hoppy. A beer I really enjoyed to drink, as always with beers from "De Dolle Brouwers"!

Pours cloudy medium-brown, with a three-finger beige head, good retention, fine lacing. Aroma of pineapple, cherry, plum, biscuit, grass, a little earthy. Medium body, tart, crisp, and zesty. Flavors of cherry, citrus, spice, tart apple, toast, and grass, sightly warming, and a very mild bitter finish. Well balanced.

330 ml bottle - cloudy, reddish amber with lingering white head; cherries, dates and yeasty goodness; mild spice and orange peels; mild carb, silky texture; dry, rich, mildly tank; dates, prunes and raisins; pretty killer brew with an off the carts nose; berries and sticky; great stuff

Bottld 330ml. -Brown coloured, big beige head, lively carbonation, dried fruits nose with touch of spices. Toasted malts, dried fruits and spices with notes of alcohol and chocolate. Warming alcoholic finish and pleasant long-lasting aftertaste. One of the best beers I’ve tried in last few weeks.

smells like dried prunes, looked like dried or melted chocolate along the rim of the bottle and on the outside (may have had bad bottle, didnt notice when i bought it). massive creamy head, very carbonated, pours a brownish tint. sour sort of taste with a strong lingering tartness on the top of my mouth. wasnt overly impressed, but i do find myself wanting more... next time/soon.

Musty pear aroma, not very strong. Opaque brown pour enormous tan head, sheets of carbonation emanate from the bottom of the glass. Intense and balanced flavor of malt, must, sour cherries, cloves, and apple flavored jolly rogers. Very slight chlorophenols are detectable. Malty finish. Should work fantastically well with stuffed clams
