Commercial Description:
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. Bottle from Ford9719, Thanks man! Got this a few days ago from him and man did this still blow up when I opened it. Dark brown body with a very creamy head that stayed to a cloudy acid trip in my beer glass. Great flavor with a little spice in it and nice yeast characteristics. Slight Cherry taste and well balanced and very smooth. Went great with cheese especially San Joaquin Gold and Amsterdam Reserve. Good Strong Ale. Cheers!

Bottle, pours with thick tan head. Beer is dark dark reddish brown. Aroma is mild and yeasty, light and sweet, but is probably the weakest part of this beer. Flavor is quite interesting, complex and changes a lot in the mouth. Very fruity initially with an almost champagne like texture, changes to dried fruits, and then becomes chocolaty towards the finish. Some sour cheese like yeast notes, which I really like but might turn some people off. Highly carbonated. Dries out on the finish a bit. Another great beer from De Dolle.

Dark brown body, slightly lighter than the Special Reserva version with a thin tan head. Sweet aroma of sugar and dark fruits, only a very slight sour hint here. Taste is like a Belgian Quadruple, sweet with some nice spices. Ending is very nice.

Pored an almost black color with light brown head. Sweet fruity caramel aroma. Sweet flavor that changed as it warmed to the room tempature around it. Fantastic all around beer.

aroma is mildly astringent with some alcohol, and wood, and some floral hopping. a muddy redish brown with a great head that retains well. flavor is full of vinous notes, woody, and sweet and sour. Quite diffent, interesting and complex. towards the finish some floral hops start to kick in on the back of the tongue with a slighly eathy aroma. This really is a terrific beer. I would love to try the reserva again now because I don’t think that I appriciated enough when I drank it. It was interesting and good, but not great. I would qualify this as a great beer. nice full palate. really great beer.
