Slightly hazy brown/orange pour, TONS of carbonation and an unexpected aroma of apple cider. Flavor is initially apple, spice, sweet sugar and finishes with a little alcohol heat. I will probably buy another one of these to age, as I’m sure it will only get better with a few years on it.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2009 Poured into a Duvel glass. Huge gusher, which I had prepared for given the fact that the other two De Dolle beers I’ve had have been gushers. The mere yeast turbulence/pressure fluctuation from opening and pouring the beer filled not only the glass but the bottle with ever-rising foam. The beer is a deep, almost-purple brown with a ludicrous topography of beige suds that leaves lace chunks everywhere. The aroma is caramely at its base with accents of souring fruit, cocoa powder, cola, sherry, and a coppery metallic note. Flavor is sweet and spicy with a solid warming alcohol presence. Cinnamon, citrus, slight acidity, toffee, dark bread. Full-bodied with (obviously) too much carbonation, but with a little time it gains drinkability. A nice rich sipper. Love the sour and carbonation mix. Hard to tell if I am tasting a hint of chocolate or caramel. De Dolle makes great beers.

Big fruit aroma. Amber coloured strong in alcohol and fruity with a crisp and slightly bitter full malt finish. Cole (320), , Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Hazy Hazel nut colour, thin head. Aroma is very rich with notes of candy. bread, malt and dark fruit. The flavour is also very rich and bready with a strange misplaced chocolate flavour, fruity and delicious. Really great beer. You are still tasting it minutes later and the fruity flavours just keep coming. Like I said. Great. Savvy1982 (328), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2009 Bottle, brought back from my Seattle trip, shared with Cole and hobbersr. A sweet, malty, and very mildly sour brew, notes of tart berries, jujube candies, cinnamon, pepper, and a darker, earthier side as well. Palate is Rich and in the bready/cakey range, with more spics, plus both tropical and winter fruits, plus mild berries. Finish is bananas, lemons, and apples, plus marmalade and burnt toast. Very fine, Champagne-like carbonation. Rich and gorgeous, but also very drinkable. Not quite the showstopper that the Oerbier Reserva is, but a mighty fine brew! raindog (559), Evansville, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Brown with some orange hue. Pillowy, lasting head which leaves great lacing. Aroma of sweet bread, toffee, house yeast, and light flower. Lively carbonation makes this seem a little less hefty than it is. Good flavor balance of fruity, sweet malt with underlying yeast, and earth flavors. Little damp wood as well. Lingering sweet, tart, and more of a hop presence than expected. Pretty dry. Delicate, and dangerously drinkable. Seems it was gone in just a few gulps. I love De Dolle hobbersr (419), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
