The beer pours a dark brown with a white creamy head. There is a decent amount of lacing.
It smells like sweet chocolate, nuts, and malt.
It tastes sweet, hints of chocolate and wood. Not a great beer, but ok.

Big fruit aroma. Amber coloured strong in alcohol and fruity with a crisp and slightly bitter full malt finish. Cole (311), , Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Hazy Hazel nut colour, thin head. Aroma is very rich with notes of candy. bread, malt and dark fruit. The flavour is also very rich and bready with a strange misplaced chocolate flavour, fruity and delicious. Really great beer. You are still tasting it minutes later and the fruity flavours just keep coming. Like I said. Great. Savvy1982 (318), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2009 Bottle, brought back from my Seattle trip, shared with Cole and hobbersr. A sweet, malty, and very mildly sour brew, notes of tart berries, jujube candies, cinnamon, pepper, and a darker, earthier side as well. Palate is Rich and in the bready/cakey range, with more spics, plus both tropical and winter fruits, plus mild berries. Finish is bananas, lemons, and apples, plus marmalade and burnt toast. Very fine, Champagne-like carbonation. Rich and gorgeous, but also very drinkable. Not quite the showstopper that the Oerbier Reserva is, but a mighty fine brew! raindog (559), Evansville, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Brown with some orange hue. Pillowy, lasting head which leaves great lacing. Aroma of sweet bread, toffee, house yeast, and light flower. Lively carbonation makes this seem a little less hefty than it is. Good flavor balance of fruity, sweet malt with underlying yeast, and earth flavors. Little damp wood as well. Lingering sweet, tart, and more of a hop presence than expected. Pretty dry. Delicate, and dangerously drinkable. Seems it was gone in just a few gulps. I love De Dolle hobbersr (412), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

Cherries, orange peel, cake, plum skin, bitter chocolate, lemon, and charcoal. This tastes very good. nice mouth feel. Fantastic brew! planky84 (136), , Greater London, England
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Bottle from Utobeer Market Stall. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aromas of vanilla, dark fruits, toffee, brown sugar. Flavours of chocolate, plum pudding, raisins, licorice, slight sourness. Good sweet, hoppy mouthfeel. Finishes with warming alcohol and a gentle bitterness. Excellent stuff. Soonah (965), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2009 From lithy via trade. The pour was dark brown and a bit cloudy. The head was short and white with thin bits of lacing. Aromas of dark fruit, yeast, malts and a whiff of booze. The flavor is mostly yeast and fruit. There’s a bit of warming alcohol towards the finish. Body isn’t that thick and it goes down easy. Tasty. after4ever (2795), Brier, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2009 330. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with a dense, creamy, bubbly, surging tan head that roars all the way up out of the glass like a devils tower. Dense sheets of stringy lace coming down the sides of the glass. Dark molasses and burnt sugar notes on the nose, along with some tangy copper and a bit of sour apple. Vinous. Creamy medium body bursting with tight fine carbonation.Cola, molasses, slight metallic tang, wood, and big vinous bursts on the mid-palate. Lovely, lovely beer. Can’t believe I never rated it before now.
