JPDIPSO (4267), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Mar 18, 2003 Cork quickly excaped the bottle and bounced about the room. I was afraid most of the beer would follow. Luckily only a small amount spewed of the rim before being captured in my glass. Dark amber/orange that gets deeper and dark in color with each addition to the glass. tall off white head with each subsequent pour as well. Light lively malt and basalmic aroma. Acidic malt flavors with just enough sweetness to make you come back for more.
miketd (372), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle shared by Nelson at the Cleveland tasting. Pour is coppery rust with not much head. Aroma is yeasty and earthy...smells like a cellar. Flavor is subtle and musty.Dont get any sourness at all, but maybe it is me. I think this bottle was past its prime. bierkoning (4920), La Tropica, Netherlands Sep 15, 2008 1980 version, tasted @ Kulminator, september 9th 2006. Aroma and flavor have porto, cherry juice and a very soft malt character. Has lost all its carbon, but not its bite. Caramel, lemon and cherry in the flavor. The alcohol remains totally unnoticed. Absolutely great beer.
cellar (386), Dublin, Ireland Sep 7, 2008 Vintage 1980 @ Kulminator, part of a vertical :-) Dark reddish brown with nice lasting head. Strong malty vinous aromawith notes of sour berries, wood and vinegar. Flavour is sweet and sour, with long sour finish. This was a treat :-) KimJohansen (4285), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 26, 2008 Bottle from 1980 @ Kulminator. Read brown with huge beige creamy head. Sour aroma with notes of wood, sour berries, roasted malt and vinegar. Sour flavor with berries, wood, barnyard and malt. Ends sour. Fantastic carbonated for such an old beer. Lovely! tertons (100), East Providence, Rhode Island, USA Aug 25, 2008 Updated: Sep 1, 2008The most unique and complex sour yet. Champagne like appearance on this dark yellowish gold de dolle. Very mild biting sour punch with a hay, mold and oak backbone. See this one as one will that will bring a group to diverge to where they’ll either love or question the 20th.
