Cinnamon and hints of clove. Hazy light gold body. Faint sour character in the body with a wonderful oaked flavor and faint whiskey hints. An amazing beer. And for those who weren’t around when I cracked this, I have more to share ;). LooseCannon (938), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Jul 12, 2007 Updated: Aug 27, 2007Fantastic aroma, grapey and doughy, cinnamon, clove, and that lovely de dolle yeast. No other yeast I know so assertively smells like a fresh ball of gooey, fermenting dough. Mmm mmm mmm. Wine and oak characteristics tarten (uhh, is that a word?) and subtelize (hah) the aroma. Doughiness in the flavor and a gentle tart green grape unfortunately for me are almost completely blocked by vicious carbonation. It really ruins the experience. This beer would be FANTASTIC if the carb was softer (or almost non-existent). There is also quite the alcohol burn to this one, although it doesn’t really detract from the beer. I’m putting this back on my want list because I feel like a couple years on this will really make it world-class. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 1, 2007 11.6oz bottle from Capone’s (Norristown, PA)Hazy orange-yellow, with a one finger off-white head. Beautiful aroma; champagne, honey, lactic acid, wood, spice, grapes and sour apple. Honey aroma seems to dominate when the beer warms. Sweet grape flavor initially, which is quickly joined by honey, clove, and other spices. Strong alcohol burn. Nice beer now, but i think I’ll pick up a few bottles for the cellar.
