andersand (271), Malmö, Sweden Nov 6, 2009 Its really a mather of age with this beer. I prefer it a couple of years old when the body is still lively with fine-bubbled carbonation and a refreshing bright yeasty nose. Flavour is also refreshing with light cararmell notes and yeasty fruit and ends on a very balanced note. No sign of the ABV which is pretty damn impressing. oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Oct 25, 2009 Another De Dolle gusher...Brownish amber pour with a vivacious white head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is loaded with sweet dark fruit, candi sugar, grapes, alcohol, and a moderate spiciness. Flavor is very sweet and very boozy. Raisin and grape prevail with brown sugar, light citrus, and a blatant warming alcohol quality. A mild acidity subsides into the waves of sweetness, though the brew never borderlines on cloying. Palate is thick, rich, and effervescent with a subtly acidic finish. craftycarl21 (510), South Hero, Vermont, USA Oct 25, 2009 Pours a clear amber with lots of suspended yeast; foam gushed out of the bottle upon cracking the cap. Aroma heavy with yeast, plum, raisin, grapes, prune, caramel, brown sugar, and sweet malt. Flavor is delicious; lots of booze, candied sugars, dark fruit, along with some bitter hop character at the finish. Palate is very thick, but not cumbersome, and the shift to the dry finish is really nice. Another excellent brew from De Dolle. JK (2943), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Oct 19, 2009 Sweet with recognizable De Dolle yeast. Opaque gold color. Sugar, some coriander. Lots of yeast. Very thick, and great for sipping slowly. I’m not crazy about all of De Dolle beers, but this is a great beer. Dry, light hop finish, but the hops are not really there until the aftertaste. Geokkjer (256), Kristiansand, Norway Oct 14, 2009 Bottle.Pours golden amber with an off-white head.Aroma of spice , grain and piny hops.Flavor is spicy with a good fruitiness ,some alcohol and yeast .Full bodied.Nice beer. KyotoLefty (1370), Kyoto, Japan Oct 4, 2009 2008 Bottle.
Dark, deep golden color, tending to amber. Tall, very fine, stiff, ballooning head. One of the most impressive heads I’ve seen. Very fruity aroma: some citrus, dark, sour apples, dried prunes. Alcohol burn evident. Hops as well. Rather prominent yeast character, tending to dryness. Huge flavor. Very alcoholic, very fruity, hoppy. Interesting fruit character but it is almost completely overwhelmed by the alcohol. This needs a few years. Pears, peaches, apples, grapefruit. Slightly tangy, with strong hop bitterness, but it is really hard to separate that from the alcohol. This is way, way too boozy! Unpleasantly fiery! Definitely huge potential here, I would say, but it needs at least 2 years for the booze to mellow out. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Oct 4, 2009 Moderate fruit malt aroma. Cloudy light orange color with large floaters and a large off white head. Mild sour flavor. Gets slightly sweet in the middle. Taste stays with you but not over powering. patrickfannon (271), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 2, 2009 Bottle. 12 oz. (2008) Pours an insane hazy orange, with the most epic, thick beige head I’ve ever seen. The head was almost solid, with bits of spice througout. Aroma of barley, roasted malt, clove, cinnamon, and hints of walnut. Full bodied, with beautiful sedimentation, well balanced carbonation, and a heavy, powerful finish. Outstanding Beglian Strong.
