Pours a cloudy light orangy gold with heavy sediment and very little head. (poured too slow)
Aroma is candied fruit, apple cider, light banana & yeast.
Flavour is sweeeet, almost meadlike at times...honey tones, spicy malt and yeast tones. Light alc. bitterness in finish which is surpisingly clean.
Very interesting brew. Rciesla (3865), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

To bad this beer is past its prime the sourness and funk have died down, the acidity is low, the etoh goes relatively undetected whihc is a huge plus. No real hop character. Tastes a bit woody and metallic. I am a bit unsure of how well this bottle has been kept as i blow the dust off it. I plan to rerate this at some point. minch25 (370), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 14, 2008 Lush velvety persistent sand-dune head. Massive floaties; otherwise, orange, effervescent. Halfway through becomes massively cloudy. Classic de dolle aroma: yeast, apricot/peachy, applesauce & cinnamon(?). Flavor is more or less the same, big, sweet, and surprisingly a little more palatable than similar ddb beers. A good try, but it’s pretty much clear now that I’m never going to love this brewery. joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA

As introduced to me by Dirk and Company at the Kulminator in Antwerp, this strong belgian ale is potent! It has a beautiful, rich but lucid brown color and a little creamy head with a good pour. I drank a bottle-conditioned from 2004 last night in Malvern, Pennsylvania, which is the first vintage beer I’ve had since Belgium. Truly a beautiful beer, a strong ale flavor with a boozy aftertaste. Vas19 (299), Maryland, USA

There is a strong sour smell, along with some spice and malt. More malt, dried fruit, spice, and alcohol. Theres a ton going on here, but I’m not really liking it all. Ok. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Semi medium orange red amber with no head. Smell is light alcohol and has some bold honey and caramel notes. Flavor is sweet with a cherry suger-like finish. Medium bodied. Heavy alcohol is surely present in my sample. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA

Pours light cloudy amber with large white head. Aroma is hops, sweet malt and spice. This brew is powerful, in your face with flavor. Maybe a bit much bite for me right now. Brings hops, spice, fruit and alcohol in the finish. Solid brew I’ll have to get a fe more of these and try and lay them down for awhile.
