Aroma is loaded with sweet dark fruit, candi sugar, grapes, alcohol, and a moderate spiciness. Flavor is very sweet and very boozy. Raisin and grape prevail with brown sugar, light citrus, and a blatant warming alcohol quality. A mild acidity subsides into the waves of sweetness, though the brew never borderlines on cloying. Palate is thick, rich, and effervescent with a subtly acidic finish.

Unexpected bitterness coming from a Belgian Strong ale, very dusty and dry, but also sweet and fruity - quite complex. The palate is just amazing: creamy!

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Dark honey-coloured but troubled liquid with non-sticky small white foam. Fruity sweets and other sugars. Some acidity that in this case is ideal and needed as a taste enhancer. Too high on alcohol for the palate present. Impression that it is a bit too young to drink now. Bitter palate not very impressive. A bit overrated to my opinion. Will stocking improve it? I have no confidence in that. Okay for Christmas 2009, better for 2010, is what I have to say. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Hazy orange with lots of suspended sediment. Thin head with a very strong fruity aroma. Flavours are sour apple, orange, bread, yeasy. I can’t believe its 12%. I like how dry it is, it might be the dryest beer I have ever had. REally great. Chalsk (14), North Caldwell, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Little on the sweet side for me. Though the bitters attempt to balance it out. Is light and carbonated on the palate. If you enjoy the sweeter belgiums, you will really enjoy this beer. hobbersr (412), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

Pours a pale yellow with lots of suspended yeast floating around. The aroma is sweet with hints of the dryness about to come with the first sip. The flavor is very dry, almost to the point where every sip deserves a sip of water... In a good way. Bananas, bready yeast, citrus rind, flint, candi sugar, fluoride (almost like toothpaste), and some hop bitterness in the finish. Decent mouth feel. Hides the 12% very well. Decent beer. kromamc (6), Italy does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 10, 2009 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! In the mouth it is full of fruit and sweet candy. Light boozy burn and cherry tickles. Amazingly light and delicious. Hells yeah. mar (1916), Dallas, Texas, USA
