bottle, september 08. Clear, rubby copper color witha medium, creamy cremé head. Aroma is fruity with a caramel and banana touch. Some spice, quite restrained. Flavor is ripe fruit, bananas and a slight coffee touch. Slightly phenollic with a short earthy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium, some chewy malt and easy drinking but with a sudden watery finish. Ok, easy drinking dubbel that could do with a bit more personality.

Not a very attractive yellowish brown with a white head. Faint sweet aroma that had a hint of caramel. Sweet, alcoholic taste with a little leathery malt and spiciness. Is there some apple too? Slight dryness.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy and brown malt. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of malt and sweet. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

Cloudy brown pour with a 3/4 inch off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and dark fruits with an unexpectedly heavy dose of hops. Flavor is much the same. Rich and pleasantly warm. Very nice.

Bottle, bought @ Willems, Grobbendonk.
[thanks, Skou, for bringing this back for me]
Pours muddy brown with a very impressive, creamy, yellow-beige head. Aroma is quite sweet, some rye-bread, honey, Belgian sugar and raisins. High carbonation, frothy mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet and malty, but with a fine, balancing dryness. A touch of dark chocolate and plums balance it well. Still not a particularly impressive dubbel.

Hazy brown with a fizzy tan head. Sweet grain and alcohol aroma. Bread honey and toffee taste with an earthy finish.

"Hoppy Belgian dubbel." Best before date June 2009. Pours a vivid rust red, topped by tawny marshmallow crème. Spicy-fruity aroma features plum and chocolate, grape flavored gum, mace, and wood. There is a sharp chemically scent I was going to call "artificial cilantro", but a more accurate name is "spray-on oven cleaner." Rather timid flavor... candied fruits, marzipan, and "burnt aloe" spicyness. Lots of quote marks in this rating. Thinnish, wheaty mouthfeel. Overall very restrained, and VERY weird.

Don’t remember how it pours. Aroma of grapes, caramel, raisin and light toast. Tastes maltier with toast, caramel, grapes, and a kinda tart yeast presence. Finishes toasty but still it’s fruitier than I would like. Medium bodied.

(750ml bottle, BB 06/2009) Pours a hazy amber body with a small beige head. Aroma of yeast, raisins, baked apple, caramel, and mustiness. Flavor of yeast, raisins, roasted malt, light banana, and caramel.
