MoritzF (4856), Bochum, Germany Nov 1, 2009 (bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a big fluffy white foam. Yeasty, slightly sweet and wheaty malty aroma with notes of citrus, ginger and delicate spices. Moderately bitter flavour with a balancing malty sweetness, full bodied with a lively carbonation. Yeasty malty and slightly citric taste with a tinge of ginger spice; dry-ish bitter sweet, slightly fruity and moderately spicy finish. Quite rounded, but not very complex brew. 01.XI.09 Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 11, 2009 750mL bottle. Poured brighter golden with a tight-bubbled cap of white head. The aroma picked up very heavy ginger paired with peppery yeast and some bready malts.. warmth introduced banana and cloves.. smelled intriguing, but like something I wouldn’t want a whole lot of........ oh crap, I have a 750. The flavor opened with tangy, peppery spices with ginger increasing in intensity through a few seconds after the finish.. pale malts and a little honey gave sweet support.. again there was some banana and clove laced throughout, as well as dirty, somewhat bitter earth. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated.. spices played well with the malts and yeast, and the flow was solid.. long impression on the finish. Came across as a rather simple Belgian pale ale with ginger.. well-executed, but not so sessionable. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 10, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy with suspended floatie strongly carbonated dark yellow colored body. The mild aroma was malty mild spice and mild floral. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mildly biting aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of malt hops and floral. An OK brew just nothing special. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Aug 8, 2009 Bottle at De Spuyt. Golden yellow body with big white head. Ginger nose and taste are hard to miss and unusual (one of 3 on RateBeer) but really not my thing. Bitter finish. Warming due to high ABV. Yves (989), Beerse, Belgium Jun 1, 2009 A blond coloured beer slightly hazy, a small white head and few carbonation. A strong spicy aroma (cinamon?) Full palate sparkling a bit. Finish is sweet bitter treating the tongue with a nice tickling feeling. Very good one. Bella Fre SSSteve (2045), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 25, 2009 clear gold under a lively fizzy white head with lots of carbonation bubbles. fresh, herbal, crisp, vanilla, aroma. flavor is cool minty, vanilla. leaves your mouth feeling clean and refreshed like some kind of minty chewing gum or toothpaste. drinkable and not too focused on the ginger but it’s definitely there.
