Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 18, 2008 750mL bottle.
Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is hazy dark yellow to light amber, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with strong notes of grains of paradise and coriander, notes of alcohol, clove, and pepper.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Clearly and heavily spiced, which I don’t understand...why would you add spices to a tripel? It totally clobbers everything else here, which all but ruins the aroma. That really sucks because it seems like a pretty good beer otherwise. Sad, so sad. MoritzF (4856), Bochum, Germany Jan 15, 2008 (33cl bottle) Cloudy, yellow colour with loads of floaties and a fluffy foamy white head. Slightly sweet malty nose with light citrus fruits, rather strong spicy coriander notes and a distinctive lemony hoppy background. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Soft pale malt character, slightly yeasty and moderately spicy with citrus-fruity hops; quite dry fruity and hop bitter finish. Well-rounded hoppy Tripel. KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jan 7, 2008 Hazy golden with huge lasting head. Orange peel, yeast and flowers dominates the aroma. Flavor is sweet and yeasty with malt and spicy notes. Somewhat perfurmy. Alcohol is well hidden and it ends dry Dedollewaitor (3622), Odense, Denmark Oct 29, 2007 Bottle, Bier circus -Brussels: Unclear orange with a white head & good lacings. Medium mouthfeel. Speciel typical De Graal herbal touch in both aroma and taste. Spicy & yeasty also. Very speciel & well made for sure! SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Oct 14, 2007 Draught: Poured a bright yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is spicy and hoppy. The taste is similar and attacks your taste buds with that hoppy spice tingle. Defreni (994), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 6, 2007 Flaske. Ligetil trippel med et lille tvist. Meget lys næsten hvedeagtig i udseendet. Smagen har en kant af krydderier, jeg ikke kunne bestemme indtil konen kaldte den for frys-selv-is. Ellers udemærket men ikke superophidsende. BückDich (4778), McCall, Idaho, USA Sep 29, 2007 Bottle @ Frigo, Shibuya, Tokyo: Hazy blonde, orange, thick white head, nose of cardamom, spruce, honeycomb, grass, hay, lemon grass. Flavor of sweet malt and spruce, citrus, pepper and more grass. Lovely and complex. diabel (1366), Aarschot, Belgium Sep 24, 2007 Bottle Clear, blond body. Creamy, white head with an excellent lace. Aroma of hops, yeast, caramel (lightly), grass. The aroma is not really bad, but also not exciting. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour. Bit tonic-like. Not bad, ok triple.
