redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA Jan 7, 2008 Appeared an average amber color. Nose of caramel and earth. Flavor is sort of sweet, but bitter... of caramel malt. Nothing was floating in mine.
11.2 oz. bottle. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Jan 6, 2008 A bit surprised I hadn’t tried this before. Sampled as part of BJCP certification training. Medium amber with a load of rather nasty looking floaties, both bottles we had. Aroma was malt and surprisingly enough, mint, a bit of bread, and a lot of caramel accents. Flavor is decidedly malty with a touch of alcohol and a bit of muskiness. Some honey also. So-so. Not often that I find the apperance to detract so much, but it was hard to get past the fact that I was having to use my teeth as a strainer. daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA Jan 4, 2008 Watery like the toilet!!1!!1! Great flavor, hints of nut, barley, golden clover honey. Had it on tap, but next to a Maredsous 8 there was no contest!!! I traded itz! RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA Dec 31, 2007 Pours a clear amber color into the trappist glass. An inch head slowly subsides, leaving traces of sticky lacing on the sides of the glass. Scents of malt, bread, caramel and vanilla. Has a clean taste with some spices, malt and pepper coming through. Rather thin and unexciting. Not a beer that I will seek out again. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Dec 30, 2007 Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells earthy and dry. Tastes sweet and has hints of wildflowers. Filtered to death. A shadow of what this once was. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Dec 27, 2007 Copper colour with an off-white head, aroma of sweet malts, fruit, and some spices. Slightly sweet but otherwise pretty simple. armando629 (953), Budapest, Hungary Dec 17, 2007 dark amber beer, medium/light head what dissapeares quickly. The nose is yeastly. In the taste are some sour flavour with a little roasted maltand yeast. Simple, drinkable beer. JDUB (170), Beautiful Venice Beach, California, USA Dec 13, 2007 pours a light rootbeer and orange color ( a little dingy looking) with an off white fairly flat head. aroma is full of yeast, malt and citrus, with some lingering vinegar attributes. Flavor reflects the vinegar presence with a cider like sharpness - lacks flavor "complexity" - sorry, i hate that pretentious word. palate is a little watery - not a substantial mouthfeel. I bought this b/c of the Belgium origin, but it simply doesn’t stack up.
