Based on multiple bollekes during various visits to Antwerp. Easy-drinking amber with light bitterness and a touch of biscuity sweetness. Aromatics include mild, aged hops and light malts. Quaffable, yet surprising character for a beer that can be found in every bar in town. What to drink, besides genever, while you wait for Kulminator to open.

On tap at Milltown, Carrboro. Decent looking brew that has a mildly funky aroma and minimal head. Thin palate, lightly sour, but not much character here.

Enters with gusto but is a lot like chewing gum: it doesn’t last long. Gets boring, almost stale after a while and loses its character.

On tap, from old notes. Deep amber with stark white foam. Lots of toasted malt flavor with subtle bitterness and a slightly sweet finish.

Bottle from Ghent. Amber beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is of malt & yeast. Flavour is also malty, slightly nutty. A good Belgium beer, if I don’t want anything challenging.

Not my favorite Belgian. It doesn’t have that lovely golden ale taste that many do. It’s a good beer, but it’s not what I reach for.
