I remember having this one at Hoopmans in Amsterdam, was nice! But by that time I had too many to even care. Wish I had more time there.

25cl off tap. Poured a clear, dark orange amber, with a lasting off white head. Malty, toffee aromas with hints of caramel and fruity spiciness. Quite sour in flavour, with hints of apple, malt, and toffee. Very tasty. A sour bitterness in the finish. Medium yet full, satisfying palate. A good tasty beer; complex yet refreshing.

[184-20070107] 330mL. Wheaty aroma, no sweetness. Clear, dark orange red body with a few slow medium-sized bubbles throughout and a medium-lasting foamy white head. Simple wheaty flavour, first astringent then lightly skunky after. Medium body. Booze is too apparent otherwise togetherness would be fine.

Dry, bitter, session beer. Good malty flavour and some sweetness on the lips. Easy drinking and inexpensive.

Draft from Lowlander? Pale amber colour with a small white head. Light body, BIG intentions. Nose of brown sugar. Molasses, maple syrup and orange in the taste. Very clean, sweet finish. Washes down oh so well. I wasn’t this impressed from the bottle - perhaps draft is the way to go?

Small white head; red-brown body. Faint acidic fruity aroma. Lightly acidic fruity taste with light licorice notes. Dryish watery fruit aftertaste. Decent, but no more, for a supposed Belgian. (0.33l bottle.)

The first time I had this I thought it tasted more like an apple, pear cinnamon drink than beer come to think of it I never had one on tap while in Antwrep. Page 136 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 420 Classic Brews to go.

Draught. Pours a clear amber color with a longlasting creamy off-white head. Sweet malty slightly yeasty aroma with some caramel hints. Sweet malty caramel flavor with some hints of yeast. Has a malty finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.
