jimhilt (1663), Bow, New Hampshire, USA May 23, 2005 Pours a one-fingered white head that fades quickly leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Nose is sour plums. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Starts with a good mix of malt and hops, finish has some sour undertones. Not as harsh as American pales. $1.45 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, Ma. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 14, 2005 Updated: Jan 9, 2006(Bottle 25 cl) Beautiful, clear amber with a small head. Caramel notes but dry, not sweet nor bitter. Actually extremely well-balanced. If you want to drink a LOT of beer this is my recommended choice. Although not sophisticated in any way this is so much more satisfying than pils. Try it on tap in the typical "bolleke"-glass. 280993 TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA May 12, 2005 Bottle. Pours amber with a small white head. Lots of particles suspended in this. Nose is fruity and sweet with light honey and flowery notes. Taste seems a bit more bitter than the aroma would let on. Light hoppiness, dried fruits, thinned honey and light floral notes. Body is light-medium with moderate carbonation feel. Light bitterness throughout. Finishes with more fruit and floral notes, hints of caramel, honey and light hops. Not bad. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA May 10, 2005 Pours a golden amber with a creamy ivory head. Some lacing evident. Smell is grassy and fruity. Dry and lightly bitter in the nose.
Taste is not exactly complex. Basically the same as it smells. Grassy and lightly bitter. Fruity and crisp. Body is a bit thin but pleasant. Nice character for a subdued beer. Bitter aftertaste. Crisp. Very drinkable, a good session beer. I have a soft spot for this one, drank plenty the last time I was in Antwerp. A different, more pleasing beer on draft but a fine, if not complicated belgian amber.
JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 2, 2005 Amber colour, white head. Spicy, yeasty nose with clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg characters. Flavour is well-balanced, softly carbonated, light brown sugar, and a nice peachy fruitiness. Light bitterness. Well made. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 2, 2005 Beautiful head and golden amber in color. Aroma consists of wild rice, caramel, brown sugar and cinnamon oatmeal. Light and thin on the palate. Almost tastes like a summer kolsch. Lemon crispness and a little astringent. Yeasty, leaven-bread. Somewhat muted. Finish is grassy and grainy with a straw aftertaste. beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Apr 30, 2005 nice beer. a nice flavourful session. clear reddish-brown colour. nothing spectacular though. Hunsell (400), Amsterdam, Netherlands Apr 19, 2005 Nice ambercoloured beer, thin head. Sweetish, yeasty and somewhat skunky aroma. Taste starts off a bit sweet, and then there is this strange herbal flavour, or is it smoke of cheap cigarettes? Not pleasant, and it is really thin as well. One of the worst beers Belgium offers.
