bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Jun 24, 2004 Bottle. Dark amber beer with a white head that disapears quickly. Somewhat yeasty aroma with a little spice. Thin body that quenches your thirst easily. There’s a spiciness to it and a mildly sweet backing. Nothing special, but it’s enjoyable in it’s well-done simplicity. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Jun 22, 2004 Had at The Celler in St.Andrews. Dark Gold Coloring. Above Average Beer. Spice. Very enjoyable. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jun 22, 2004 Copper color, nice head. Simple but enjoyable beer, probably not really the aroma, but better the flavor, with a light maltiness, caramel, light sweetness and a quite strong bitterness. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 14, 2004 I was expecting more, damn. Looks pretty enough with some lively carbonation and frothy head. Nose is somewhat promising--belgian yeastiness tempered by some crystal malt chewiness. Smell hints of peanut butter in the aroma. Flavor is a huge let down; this is a pretty dry and watery beer. A little bit salty and lots of melon flavors. I could dig it as a belgian-style daily drinker, but little else. Note: Just noted some off sourness in this one; don't care for that at all and it accentuates the watery texture. diabel (1366), Aarschot, Belgium May 25, 2004 I didn’t realise I didn’t rate this beer before. But at last ... here it comes. Clear amber body with an off-white creamy head which is good lacing and mostly lasting. Light bitter initial flavour, and moderately bitter finish. Soft, chalky moutfeel. Watery texture. HopasaurusRex (195), Glen Ellyn, Illinois, USA May 6, 2004 I’ve had this both on draft and in the bottle and the draft version was much fresher and quite enjoyable. Overall, a nice session beer, but nothing to seek out. I’m sure its better in Belgium, but enjoyable still. lovibond (112), New York, USA Apr 29, 2004 Some malt flavor/aroma, with a prominent yeast bite. Drinkable, with a little character. Not my favorite Belgian Pale Ale. Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Apr 28, 2004 07-01-04 drank on 04-28-04: Clear amber with a small bubbled small white head. Grass, light fruits and yeast in the aroma. Medium to full bodied, starts a bit sweet and ends sweeter than that. Yeast taste stays around for a while at the end.
