Has a bit of a harsh, slightly metallic aftertaste. Not bad, but not one of the better Belgian beers that I’ve had. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 1, 2008 Bottle. Amber copper colour with thin magicly disappearing head lie a magicians rabbit. Strange aroma, bit dusty and flowery. A little disappointing for me. Something a bit odd and chemical like in the flavour. Not terrible but up against some stiff opposition in it’s class. Kind of like Pedro Rizzo. Linc (736), Sydney, Australia
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 30, 2002 Nice colour and head marred by huge floaties coming out mid pour. I agreee with the pilsener meets ale comment from Austinpowers. Reasonably nice aroma, not great, same with the flavour. Slight toffee like sweetness, little bit of caramelised sugar. Hops must be Saaz but lack the expected flavour. Very unpleasant when you swallow one of those big floaties. turbothy (725), Bonn, Germany

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2004 This was pretty good. I loved it when I had it, but I have had Belgian beers that are a lot better. This is a good beer to have second. If you have it first you won’t get a strong enough taste. I had Aventinus and then this and it worked pretty well. TheJester (717), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 15, 2006 "Hoge Gisting." 330 mL bottle. LCBO gift box. Smells like raw barley malt, with a touch of hops. (Smells like my basement when I’m making beer.) Copper brown in colour. Lightly carbonated. Tastes like it smells; sweet malted barley with enough hops to make the finish interesting. If you’ve ever made your own beer (all grain), you’ll recognize this. Undecided. I’ll have to have another (colder) one. Maverick34 (716), New York, USA
